Huseynagha Sadigov (born in 1940) is an important politician and diplomat from Azerbaijan. He is also known as Huseynaga Sadikhov. He has worked to build good relationships between Azerbaijan and other countries.

Early Life and Education
Huseynagha Sadigov was born in Baku, Azerbaijan, on March 14, 1940. In 1963, he finished his studies at the Azerbaijan University of Languages. He earned a degree in European languages. He also continued his studies at the same university after graduating.
While studying, Sadigov worked as a translator. He also helped manage a big tourism company called All Soviet Intourist. He was also the director of a new hotel complex being built in Azerbaijan. In 1968, he took special courses in international tourism. These courses were given by the Council of Ministers of the USSR.
Political and Diplomatic Career
Sadigov started his political career in 1971. He held important management jobs in the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan SSR. He also worked for the Central Committee of the Azerbaijan Communist Party.
Working as a Diplomat
From 1974 to 1988, Sadigov worked as a diplomat. He was part of the USSR embassy in Berlin, East Germany. He also worked at consulates in Leipzig and Rostock, which are cities in East Germany.
Becoming Foreign Minister
From 1988 to 1991, he served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Azerbaijan SSR. After Azerbaijan became an independent country in 1991, Sadigov was chosen again. He became the first Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
In 1989, he became an Advisor to Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary for the USSR. In 1992, he earned the high diplomatic title of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary for the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan Joins the United Nations
During his time as Foreign Minister, Sadigov strongly supported Azerbaijan working with NATO. He wanted Azerbaijan to join NATO eventually. He announced this pro-Western idea on December 4, 1991. This was weeks before the Soviet Union officially broke apart.
Mr. Sadigov led Azerbaijan's group to the United Nations meeting in March 1992. At this meeting, the Republic of Azerbaijan became a member of the United Nations. He was the first Azerbaijani person to give a speech to the United Nations General Assembly.
Ambassador to European Countries
In 1992, Tofig Gasimov took over as Foreign Minister. Sadigov was then appointed as an ambassador to several European countries. These countries included Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Austria. He held these ambassador roles until 2005.
Achievements and Recognition
Sadigov has written more than 50 articles about politics. These articles were published in German and Azerbaijani newspapers and magazines. In 2007, Huseynagha Sadigov received an important award. He was given the German Federal Cross of Merit. This award recognized his efforts in building strong relationships between Azerbaijan and Germany.
Personal Life
Huseynagha Sadigov has two children. He can speak several languages fluently. These include German, Arabic, Turkish, and Russian.
