Ibai Llanos Garatea (born March 26, 1995), known simply as Ibai, is a famous Spanish internet star. He is well-known as a streamer and a commentator for esports (electronic sports). Ibai was a content creator for the G2 Esports team from 2020 to 2021. He also helped start the esports organization called KOI.

On Twitch, a popular live streaming platform, Ibai has the most-followed channel in the world. He has over 19 million followers there. On YouTube, his main channel has more than 13 million subscribers. His videos have been watched over four billion times in total. In 2021, Forbes Spain magazine said he was the most influential person on social media in Spain.

Growing Up in Spain

Ibai was born in Bilbao, a city in the Basque Country region of Spain. He was born on March 26, 1995. When he was younger, there were some tough economic times. Because of this, he found comfort and fun in playing video games.

Starting as an Esports Commentator

In 2014, when Ibai was 19 years old, he started commentating on League of Legends esports matches. This means he would talk about the games as they happened, explaining what was going on. In August 2015, he became a commentator for the LVP, which is a Spanish regional league for esports.

In 2016, Ibai moved from Bilbao to Barcelona. This move helped him work more easily as an announcer.

Moving to New Shows and Teams

After working for the LVP, Ibai started hosting a late-night show in February 2019. The show was called "Hoy no se sale" on the Ubeat network. Other hosts later took over the show.

In February 2020, Ibai stopped commentating on League of Legends games. He left LVP to become a special content creator for the G2 Esports team. He worked with other popular streamers like Ander Cortés and Reven.

Co-founding KOI Esports

Ibai co-founded the esports team KOI with famous footballer Gerard Piqué in December 2021. The team is based in Barcelona. KOI first competed in games like League of Legends, Valorant, and Teamfight Tactics.

In October 2022, KOI announced they were joining forces with another esports team called Rogue. All of Rogue's teams changed their names to KOI. However, this partnership ended after just one year in November 2023. Both organizations kept their original teams.

In January 2024, KOI joined with MAD Lions and Movistar Riders. This big merger meant that the LEC team was renamed MAD Lions KOI. All other teams from KOI and Movistar Riders became Movistar KOI. Ibai and Gerard Piqué now own a part of the company that runs these teams.

In February 2021, Ibai started an interview series called "Charlando tranquilamente" (which means "Calmly Chatting"). His first guest was the footballer Gerard Piqué. The Balloon World Cup
