Imboden is a small city in Lawrence County, Arkansas, in the United States. It's named after a family who settled there a long time ago. In 2010, about 677 people lived in Imboden. By 2020, the population was 640.

History of Imboden
Early Settlement and Growth
The area where Imboden is located was first settled around 1828. The community officially became a city in 1887. This means it got its own local government.
Youngest Mayor in History
In 1912, something very interesting happened in Imboden. A man named Joe Sullivan was elected mayor. He was only 21 years old, making him the youngest elected mayor in the United States at that time! Joe Sullivan used a cart pulled by a goat to get around because he was paralyzed. He left Imboden in 1914 to continue his education.
Imboden's Schools
Imboden has two public schools that are important to the community. Sloan-Hendrix School started in 1899 as a private school. It was called Sloan-Hendrix Academy and was connected to Hendrix College. Later, it became a public school, serving many students. The Imboden Area Charter School, which is also a public school, opened in 2002. It allows students from different areas to enroll.

Location and Rivers
Imboden is located in the northwestern part of Lawrence County. It sits on the south side of the Spring River. This river flows southeast and eventually joins the Black River. North of Imboden, across the Spring River, is Randolph County.
Area and Features
The city covers about 2.5 square kilometers (or 1.27 square miles) of land. There is no water area within the city limits. In October 2008, a new boat launch was opened on the Spring River. It has a large parking area, making it easy for people to enjoy the river.
Highways Connecting Imboden
Major Routes Through Town
Several important highways run right through the center of Imboden. These include US 62, US 63, and US 412.
These three highways travel west from Imboden on West 3rd Street. They lead about 21 miles northwest to the town of Hardy.
Highway 62 then turns northeast in the middle of Imboden. It crosses the Spring River and goes about 15 miles northeast to Pocahontas.
Highways 63 and 412 continue southeast from Imboden on East 3rd Street. They lead about 9 miles to Black Rock.
Other Important Roads
Arkansas Highway 115 starts in Imboden and goes southwest. It leads about 12 miles to Smithville. These highways help people travel to and from Imboden.

The population of Imboden has changed over the years. In 1890, there were only 157 people. The population grew quite a bit in the early 1900s. By 2020, the city had 640 residents.

Public School Districts
Students in Imboden receive public education from two main sources:
- The Sloan–Hendrix School District: This district provides education that leads to graduation from Sloan–Hendrix High School.
- Imboden Area Charter School: This is an open-enrollment school. It teaches students from kindergarten all the way through eighth grade.
