Jackson Peak is a tall mountain in Wyoming, a state in the United States. It stands at 13,523 feet (4,122 m) high. This makes it the eighth-highest mountain in Wyoming and the seventh-highest in the Wind River Range.

A large ice formation called the Bull Lake Glacier is found just north and east of Jackson Peak. The mountain is also located on the Continental Divide. This is like a giant line across North and South America where rivers flow either to the Atlantic or Pacific oceans. Jackson Peak is about .75 miles (1.21 km) southeast of another mountain called Fremont Peak.

Staying Safe in the Mountains

When you explore the Wind River Range, it's important to be prepared and stay safe. Here are some things to remember:

  • Wildlife: You might see animals like bears. Always know what to do if you encounter wildlife.
  • Weather: Mountain weather can change quickly. Be ready for snow or cold temperatures at night, even in summer.
  • Terrain: The mountains have steep cliffs and loose rocks. Always watch your step to avoid falling or being hit by falling rocks.
  • Bugs and Wildfires: Be aware of bugs and the risk of wildfires, especially during dry seasons.

Always plan your trip carefully and tell someone where you are going. Being prepared helps everyone have a safe and fun adventure in the mountains!
