Jai Waetford (born January 25, 1999) is an Australian pop singer and songwriter. He became famous after appearing on the fifth season of The X Factor Australia in 2013. He finished third in the competition.
After The X Factor, Jai signed with Sony Music Australia. He released his first song, "Your Eyes". This song reached number six on the ARIA Singles Chart. His first EP, called Jai Waetford, came out in December 2013. It reached number 21 on the ARIA Albums Chart. In 2016, Jai also started acting in the TV show Neighbours.

Early Life and Beginnings
Jai Waetford was born in 1999 in Campbelltown, a suburb in south-western Sydney, Australia. His mother, Alana Dow, and his grandparents, Hannah and Roger Dow, raised him.
When he was young, Jai taught himself to play the guitar. He learned by watching videos on YouTube. He went to Campbelltown Performing Arts High School. He finished school in 2014 after completing Year 10.
Music Career
The X Factor Journey (2013)
In 2013, Jai Waetford tried out for the fifth season of The X Factor Australia. He sang "Different Worlds" by Jes Hudak and his own song, "Don't Let Me Go". He moved on to the super bootcamp stage.
During super bootcamp, Jai sang "Titanium" by David Guetta and "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" by Taylor Swift. He made it to the home visits round. There, he was part of the Boys category, mentored by Ronan Keating. He sang Elvis Presley's "Always on My Mind" and got into the live shows.
Jai reached the grand final of The X Factor. He finished in third place. Dami Im won the show, and Taylor Henderson came second.

First EPs and Tours (2013-2015)
After The X Factor, Jai signed a music deal with Sony Music Australia. His first song, "Your Eyes", came out the same day. It reached number six on the ARIA Singles Chart. The song was certified gold, meaning it sold over 35,000 copies.
In November 2013, Jai went on The X Factor Live Tour with other contestants. On December 6, 2013, he released his first EP, Jai Waetford. It reached number 21 on the ARIA Albums Chart. His second EP, Get to Know You, was released in March 2014. The main song from this EP reached number 32 on the ARIA Singles Chart. Jai also supported Justice Crew on their #HypeTour in 2014. His third EP, Shy, came out in 2015.
New Music and Acting (2016-2017)
Jai released the song "Living Not Dreaming" in February 2016. This was followed by his EP Heart Miles on June 3, 2016. Music videos were made for both "Living Not Dreaming" and "Heart Miles". Jai also made a video discussing long-distance relationships, featuring parts of his new songs.
In May and June 2016, Jai toured in Europe, Indonesia, and Thailand. He performed his new songs and covers of popular hits. In February 2016, Jai joined the Australian TV show Neighbours as Angus Beaumont-Hannay. His first episode aired on May 2.
Return to Music (2018)
In October 2018, Jai released "Lost in You", his first new song in a year. He shared that he wrote the song about someone who helped him through a difficult time. He explained that this person made his life feel more focused.
Jai also became an ambassador for the "You Are Not Alone" campaign. This campaign helps young people who are going through tough times. He then released two more songs, "Get Over" and "Friends". Jai co-wrote "Friends" with James Agnus. He said the song is about how people act differently online compared to real life.
