Jane Carr is a talented English actress. She was born as Ellen Jane Carr on August 13, 1950. Many people know her from her first movie role in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (1969).
She is also famous for her voice acting. She played "Pud'n" in the cartoon The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy. This show was popular in the US from 2001 to 2007.

Early Life and Training
Jane Carr was born in Loughton, Essex, England. Her father, Patrick Carr, worked as a steel erector. Her mother, Gwendoline Rose Carr, worked at a post office.
Jane went to the Arts Educational Schools in London. There, she trained to become an actress.

Jane Carr's first movie role was in 1969. She played Mary McGregor in the British film The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. In this movie, she had to act like her character was different ages, from 11 to 18.
She also appeared in Something for Everyone (1970). She starred with famous actors like Angela Lansbury and Michael York. Later, she was in Danny Jones (1972).
Other movies she has been in include The Bunker (1981) and Deal of a Lifetime (1999). She also voiced characters in animated films. These include Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties (2006) and Postman Pat: The Movie (2014). In Hannah Montana: The Movie (2009), she played Lucinda.
Stage Performances
Jane Carr is also a talented stage actress. She was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award in 1977. This was for her role as Mary Mooney in the play Once a Catholic.
In 1978, she joined the Royal Shakespeare Company. She received another Olivier nomination in 1982 for A Midsummer Night's Dream. She performed in many other famous plays. These include The Tempest and Peter Pan.
In 1987, she moved to the United States. She was touring with the Royal Shakespeare Company's play The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby. From 2006 to 2009, she played Mrs. Brill in the musical Mary Poppins on Broadway.
Jane was also part of the first cast of A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder. This musical won a Tony Award in 2014. She played the character Miss Shingle.
Television Roles
Jane Carr has appeared in many television shows. In 1969, she played Lesley Biddulph in "The Gold Robbers." She also appeared in "Crown Court" in 1972.
She had a big role as Louise in the TV series Dear John (1988–92). In 1994, she played Timov in an episode of Babylon 5.
Jane has also been a guest star on many popular US comedy shows. These include Friends, Gilmore Girls, and Curb Your Enthusiasm. She also appeared in Star Trek: Enterprise as Mary Reed.
More recently, she played Martha St. Claire in Wizards of Waverly Place (2011). In 2012, she was Mrs. Buckminster in How I Met Your Mother. From 2018 to 2019, she played the Fairy Godmother on Legends of Tomorrow. In 2020, she had a guest role as Betty on the sitcom Mom.
Voice Acting Work
Jane Carr is also known for her voice work. In 1985, she voiced the Computer in the Doctor Who radio series Slipback.
She voiced Grandma Winifred Fletcher in the Disney cartoon Phineas and Ferb. This show aired from 2008 to 2011. She also provides the voice of Mama Cosma in The Fairly OddParents. Mama Cosma is the mother of Cosmo in the popular Nickelodeon cartoon.
