Jeremy Phillip Felton (born July 17, 1987), known as Jeremih (/ˈdʒɛrəmaɪ/ jerr-ƏM-eye), is an American R&B singer. He started his music career after meeting producer Mick Schultz in 2008. He then signed a record deal with Def Jam Recordings in 2009.
Jeremih's first album, Jeremih, came out in June 2009. It reached number six on the Billboard 200 chart. His 2010 song, "Down on Me" (with 50 Cent), was very successful. It sold over six million copies. This song was part of his second album, All About You (2010).
In 2014, his song "Don't Tell 'Em" (with YG) became a top-ten hit. Other popular songs like "Oui" and "Planez" (with J. Cole) also sold millions of copies. These songs were on his third album, Late Nights: The Album (2015). In 2018, he formed a music group called MihTy with singer Ty Dolla Sign. They released an album together that same year.

Early life and musical start
Jeremih was born in Chicago, Illinois. He started playing drums when he was only three years old. He can also play the saxophone, piano, and other percussion instruments. He went to Morgan Park High School. There, he was part of the marching band and a Latin jazz band.
He was a good student and finished high school a year early. He first studied engineering at the University of Illinois. But he soon realized he wanted to study music instead. In 2007, he moved to Columbia College Chicago to study music business. After singing a tribute to Ray Charles at a school talent show, he got great feedback. This made him realize how good his singing voice was.
Music career highlights
First albums: Jeremih and All About You (2009–2011)
While at Columbia College Chicago, Jeremih worked with music producer Mick Schultz. They made a song called "My Ride." Jeremih also got advice from his cousin, Willie Taylor, who was in the group Day26. In February 2009, Jeremih met with leaders from Def Jam Recordings. After singing for them, he signed a record deal that same day.
In June 2009, Jeremih released his first album, Jeremih. It sold 59,000 copies in its first week and reached number 6 on the Billboard 200. To promote the album, Jeremih went on the America's Most Wanted Tour. He toured with famous artists like Lil Wayne and Soulja Boy. His second song, "Imma Star (Everywhere We Are)", reached number 51 on the Billboard Hot 100.
In August 2009, Jeremih helped the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) with a campaign. He encouraged children to return to school. Some people protested, saying his music was not suitable for students. But school officials said students already listened to his music. They also noted that Jeremih had the freedom of speech. In September 2009, Jeremih performed on the TV show One Life to Live with Lionel Richie. They sang "Just Go" together.
On June 1, 2010, Jeremih released "I Like" with Ludacris. This was the first song from his second album, All About You. The song "Down on Me" with 50 Cent became the second single. "Down on Me" was number one on the Rhythmic Billboard chart for eight weeks. All About You was released on September 28, 2010.
Late Nights and new music (2012–2015)
In December 2011, Jeremih said he was working on his third album, first called Thumpy Johnson. He planned to release it in summer 2012. But the album was not released then. Instead, Jeremih released his first mixtape, Late Nights with Jeremih, on August 7, 2012.
The song "All the Time" was on his mixtape. It was later re-released as a single with a new verse by Lil Wayne. This song came out on April 16, 2013. On July 17, 2014, Jeremih released a special project called "No More" with Shlohmo.
The first song from his third album, now called Late Nights: The Album, was "Don't Tell 'Em" with YG. It came out on June 6, 2014. The second song, "Planez" with J. Cole, was released on January 22, 2015. Other popular songs from the album included "Oui" and "Royalty" with Big Sean and Future. Jeremih finally released Late Nights: The Album on December 4, 2015. He then went on his Late Nights Uncut Tour to promote it.
Collaborations and new projects (2016–2018)
On February 7, 2016, Jeremih told Billboard that his fourth album would be called Later That Night. He also said he was writing songs for Kanye West and Nicki Minaj. In summer 2016, Jeremih had his first concert tour in Europe. In July 2016, he released his second mixtape, Late Nights: Europe. He recorded it while on tour.
In June 2016, Jeremih announced a joint album with PartyNextDoor called Late Night Party. They also planned a tour together called Summer's Over Tour. However, Jeremih was later removed from the tour. He explained that there were disagreements between their teams.
On May 5, 2017, Jeremih released an EP (a short album) called Cinco De MihYo. He wrote and recorded it in just 24 hours. In March 2018, he released another EP called The Chocolate Box.
On June 8, 2018, Jeremih and Ty Dolla Sign released "The Light." This was the first song from their album MihTy. The album had 11 songs and featured artists like Chris Brown and Wiz Khalifa. It was released on October 26, 2018.
In July 2018, Jeremih announced a tour with singer Teyana Taylor. However, Teyana Taylor later left the tour.
Recent music and new record label (2019–present)
In 2019, Jeremih was featured in Chantel Jeffries' song "Chase the Summer." In March 2020, he was on the remix for "Baby Girl" by Bryce Vine. On May 3, 2021, DJ Khaled released a music video for his song "Thankful" with Jeremih and Lil Wayne.
After a break from recording, Jeremih released his song "Changes" on October 21, 2022. In April 2023, he introduced his first new artist, Murf Dilly, with the song "2 C's." Jeremih was a guest singer on the song. This was the first release from Jeremih's new record label, Late Nightz Records.
In February 2024, Jeremih left Def Jam Recordings after 15 years. On June 28, 2024, he released his first independent song, "Wait on It," with Bryson Tiller and Chris Brown.
Musical style and influences
Jeremih has said that Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and R. Kelly are his biggest musical influences. He calls their music "timeless" and sees them as "true musician-artists."
When his first album came out, critics compared Jeremih's singing to artists like Slim from the group 112 and Raphael Saadiq. They noted his "charming voice" that is "hard to not like." Other critics said his voice was "thin" but that he was good at creating catchy tunes. He has also been compared to The-Dream and Stevie Wonder.

Jeremih has two sons.
Health
In November 2020, Jeremih was taken to the hospital in Chicago after getting COVID-19. He was in serious condition and needed a breathing machine for a while. He was taken off the breathing machine on November 19 but remained in critical condition. His spokesperson said Jeremih had no other health problems. He was moved out of intensive care on November 21 and was able to make a full recovery. He left the hospital on December 4.
