Jordan William Fisher (born April 24, 1994) is an American actor, singer, and dancer. He started his career with roles on TV shows like The Secret Life of the American Teenager (2012) and Liv and Maddie (2015–2017). He also appeared in TV movies such as Teen Beach Movie (2013) and Grease Live (2016). Later, he starred in Rent: Live (2019) and the TV series The Flash (2021-2022).
On Broadway, Jordan played John Laurens and Philip Hamilton in Hamilton from 2016 to 2017. He then took on the main role of Evan Hansen in Dear Evan Hansen (2020–2022). In 2023, he starred as Anthony Hope in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and later as Orpheus in Hadestown until 2025.
Jordan Fisher and his dance partner Lindsay Arnold won the 25th season of Dancing with the Stars in 2017. He later hosted Dancing with the Stars: Juniors in 2018. As a singer, he released his first EP, Jordan Fisher, in 2016. He also appeared in the 2020 Netflix movies To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You and Work It. Early Life and Growing Up
Jordan Fisher was born in Birmingham, Alabama in 1994. He grew up in a nearby town called Trussville. When he was 11, his maternal grandparents, Rodney and Pat Fisher, legally adopted him and raised him. Jordan has a multi-ethnic background, including Nigerian, Cambodian, English, Polynesian, Italian, Greek, and Scandinavian roots.
Jordan started gymnastics at age 2. He became interested in musical theater in fifth grade after performing in a school play. He was homeschooled and later earned his high school diploma. He joined the Red Mountain Theatre Company in Birmingham, where a talent scout noticed him. In 2011, he moved to Los Angeles, California with his grandparents and siblings to pursue his dreams.
Music Career Highlights
In 2014, Jordan Fisher released three pop-soul songs on Radio Disney. In 2015, he signed a record deal with Hollywood Records. His first official single, "All About Us," came out on April 15, 2016. This song was the first track on his self-titled EP, which was released on August 19, 2016. Jordan describes his music as pop-soul-R&B, inspired by 1980s soul music. He is very talented and can play six instruments: piano, guitar, bass, harmonica, French horn, and drums.
In 2015, Jordan joined the Disney Channel Circle of Stars to remake the song "Do You Want to Build a Snowman?" from the movie Frozen. He sang songs for the Liv and Maddie soundtrack and the Teen Beach 2 soundtrack. He also sang the national anthem at a NASCAR race in 2016. Later that year, he opened for Alicia Keys at the Apple Music Festival in London. Jordan is also featured with Lin-Manuel Miranda on "You're Welcome," a song from the 2016 Disney movie Moana. His single "Mess" was released in 2017, and "Be Okay" in 2019. In 2020, he released "Contact" and "Walking on the Ceiling."
Acting on Television
Jordan Fisher has had many roles on television. His first big part was as Jacob on The Secret Life of the American Teenager. He played Holden Dippledorf on the Disney Channel show Liv and Maddie starting in 2015. He also appeared in The Thundermans and Teen Wolf.
He played Seacat, the leader of a surfer gang, in the TV movies Teen Beach Movie (2013) and Teen Beach 2 (2015). In Grease: Live, a live TV performance of Grease, Jordan played Doody. His singing of "Those Magic Changes" was highly praised. In 2017, Jordan competed on Dancing with the Stars and won with his partner Lindsay Arnold. He was the youngest male winner on the show.
From 2018 to 2020, Jordan voiced Sea Hawk in the animated series She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. In 2019, he starred as Mark Cohen in another live musical TV production, Rent: Live. In 2021, he joined the superhero series The Flash as Bart Allen / Impulse. Broadway and Stage Roles
Jordan Fisher made his Broadway debut in Hamilton on November 22, 2016. He played two roles: John Laurens and Philip Hamilton. He performed in Hamilton until March 2017.
On January 28, 2020, he returned to Broadway to take on the main role in the musical Dear Evan Hansen. He was the first actor of color to play Evan Hansen full-time and won an award for his performance. His last show was in February 2022. In February 2023, he began playing Anthony Hope in a new Broadway production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. He performed alongside famous actors like Josh Groban and Annaleigh Ashford. His final performance in Sweeney Todd was in June 2023.
In October 2023, it was announced that Jordan would take over the main role of Orpheus in the Broadway show Hadestown. His first performance was on November 20, 2023, and he continued in the role until January 2025. He also won a Broadway.com Audience Choice Award for his portrayal of Orpheus. In 2025, he is set to star as Bobby Strong in the musical Urinetown in New York City.
Film Appearances
In 2019, Jordan Fisher was cast as John Ambrose McClaren in the popular Netflix film To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You. In 2020, he played Jake Taylor in another Netflix original movie, Work It. In 2022, he voiced a member of the fictional boy band 4*Town in the animated movie Turning Red. He also appeared in the film Hello, Goodbye, And Everything In Between.
Personal Life
Jordan Fisher is married to his childhood sweetheart, Ellie Woods. They got engaged in May 2019. They planned to marry in July 2020, but they had to delay their wedding because of the COVID-19 pandemic. They eventually married on November 21, 2020, in a private ceremony at Walt Disney World. In December 2021, the couple announced they were expecting their first child. Their son, Riley William, was born on June 7, 2022.
