The Kabinakagami River is a river in Ontario, Canada. It flows through the Cochrane and Algoma areas in northeastern Ontario. This river is part of a larger water system that eventually flows into James Bay. It is a smaller river that joins the Kenogami River.
River's Journey
The Kabinakagami River starts its journey at a place called Summit Lake. This lake is located in the northern part of the Algoma District. The lake is also found near the main railway line used by the Canadian Pacific Railway.
From Summit Lake, the river flows towards the northeast. It then reaches a larger body of water known as Kabinakagami Lake. After leaving this lake, the river turns north and enters the Cochrane District.
As the river continues its path, it flows under Ontario Highway 11. It also passes by the east side of a community called Calstock and the Constance Lake First Nation.
The river then changes direction, flowing first to the northwest and then turning north again. Finally, the Kabinakagami River reaches its end point. It flows into the Kenogami River at a community called Mammamattawa. This place was once home to an old trading post. The Kenogami River then carries the water further, eventually connecting to the Albany River, which flows into James Bay.
