Kaitlyn Rochelle Dever (born December 21, 1996) is an American actress. She is well-known for her roles in TV shows like Justified (2011–2015) and Last Man Standing (2011–2021). She also starred in the miniseries Unbelievable (2019). More recently, she appeared in Apple Cider Vinegar (2025) and The Last of Us (2025).
Kaitlyn has been nominated for many awards. She received two Golden Globe Award nominations. She also earned two Primetime Emmy Award nominations.
Besides TV, Dever has starred in movies such as Booksmart (2019), Rosaline (2022), and No One Will Save You (2023). She also had supporting roles in films like Short Term 12 (2013), Detroit (2017), and Ticket to Paradise (2022). Outside of acting, Kaitlyn is part of a music group called Devers with her sister Mady.

Early Life and Interests
Kaitlyn Rochelle Dever was born in Phoenix, Arizona, on December 21, 1996. Her father was also an actor for a short time. He even voiced Barney the Dinosaur on the PBS children's show Barney & Friends. Kaitlyn has two younger sisters.
When she was five years old, Kaitlyn became interested in performing. Her parents enrolled her in an acting school. She also took classes in ballet, gymnastics, and ice skating. However, after seeing Toni Collette act in the movie The Sixth Sense (1999), Kaitlyn decided to focus on acting. Her family first moved to Dallas, where she filmed commercials. Later, they settled in Los Angeles to support her career.
Acting Career
Kaitlyn Dever's first important acting role was Gwen Thompson. This was in the 2009 film An American Girl: Chrissa Stands Strong. In 2011, she got a big role as Loretta McCready in the FX series Justified. That same year, she joined the cast of the sitcom Last Man Standing. She played the daughter of Tim Allen's character. After six seasons, she took on a recurring role. This allowed her to work on other movies and TV shows.
Dever has appeared in many other TV shows. These include Modern Family, Private Practice, and The Mentalist. In 2011, she was in films like Bad Teacher and J. Edgar. In 2012, she received three nominations at the 33rd Young Artist Awards. These were for her roles in Bad Teacher, Last Man Standing, and Justified.
In 2013, Kaitlyn had supporting roles in the movies The Spectacular Now and Short Term 12. She also appeared in the 2014 comedy Laggies with Chloë Grace Moretz. That same year, she co-starred in Men, Women & Children. In 2017, she was in Outside In and Detroit.
In 2018, she had smaller roles in The Front Runner and Beautiful Boy. In early 2019, Dever appeared in the thriller film Them That Follow. It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Later in 2019, she starred in the popular teen comedy Booksmart. She acted alongside Beanie Feldstein in this film. It premiered at South by Southwest.

In 2020, Dever appeared in the comedy series Home Movie: The Princess Bride. She also co-starred in the audio drama When You Finish Saving the World. In this story, she voiced Rachel, an 18-year-old. In August 2020, she was cast as Zoe Murphy. This was for the 2021 film Dear Evan Hansen, based on a Broadway musical.
In 2021, she played Abbi Miller in the FX series The Premise. Dever also starred in the main role of the film Rosaline. She played Betsy Mallum in the 2021 Hulu miniseries ...sick. For this role, she received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination.
In 2023, Dever starred in the sci-fi thriller No One Will Save You on Hulu. This movie has almost no talking. She was praised for telling the story mostly through her facial expressions. In January 2024, it was announced she would play Abby in the second season of The Last of Us. This season premiered in April 2025. In January 2025, she joined the cast of the next film in the Monsterverse series.
Dever played the main role of Belle Gibson in the Australian miniseries Apple Cider Vinegar. This show was released on Netflix in February 2025.
Music Career
Kaitlyn's parents encouraged her love for music from a young age. Her mother played Alanis Morissette's album Jagged Little Pill on car trips. Her father taught Kaitlyn and her sisters to harmonize. Kaitlyn and her sister Mady learned piano when they were young. Kaitlyn switched to guitar after getting one as a Christmas gift at age eight. She says artists like ABBA and The Cure inspire her.
Kaitlyn and Mady performed in elementary school talent shows. They called themselves Hot Pink and sang songs by artists like Avril Lavigne. Later, they changed their name to Anime Pearl. They played at small clubs in Los Angeles.
The sisters changed their group name to Beulahbelle in 2016. This name came from an ancestor who had passed away as a baby. In 2018, they released music for the first time as Beulahbelle. They contributed two cover songs and an original track called "Let You Go" to the 2018 film Tully. Beulahbelle released their first official single, "Raleigh," on February 15, 2020. Both sisters directed and produced its music video. Their second single, "Being You," came out on September 10, 2020.
"Being You" was Beulahbelle's last single before they changed their name. In August 2024, the duo announced their new name: Devers. Their first single under this new name, "Poison," was released on September 4, 2024.
Personal Life
Kaitlyn Dever is in a relationship with actor Ethan Dawes. She shared this publicly for the first time in April 2025.
