Kakinagimak Lake is a beautiful lake located in Saskatchewan, Canada. It's found in a forested area of the Canadian Shield, which is a huge region of ancient rock. The weather here is quite cold, typical of a subarctic climate.

Where is Kakinagimak Lake?

Kakinagimak Lake is located in Saskatchewan, Canada. You can find it about 45 kilometers (28 miles) northwest of Flin Flon, a town in Manitoba. It's also about 40 kilometers (25 miles) east of Pelican Narrows, Saskatchewan.

The lake is quite long, stretching about 25 kilometers (15.5 miles). However, it is very narrow, almost like a river. The surface of the lake is about 330 meters (1,083 feet) above sea level. There is even a fishing cabin on the lake, which is a great spot for anglers!

What's the Lake Like?

Kakinagimak Lake is fairly deep. Its average depth is between 60 to 80 feet (18 to 24 meters). The deepest part of the lake goes down to about 135 feet (41 meters)! The lake has a long shoreline, stretching for about 40 miles (64 kilometers).

The land around the lake has low hills and ridges made of a type of rock called granite. These ridges can rise to about 410 meters (1,345 feet) above sea level.

How Water Flows In and Out

Water from the northern part of Kakinagimak Lake flows north. It joins other nearby lakes like Robbestad Lake and McArthur Lake. This water eventually drains into the Churchill River through the Nemei River.

However, the southern part of Kakinagimak Lake drains in the opposite direction. It flows south into the Wildnest-Sturgeon-Weir River System. From there, the water continues into the Saskatchewan River.

The area around Kakinagimak Lake is in a subarctic climate zone. This means it has long, cold winters and short, cool summers. The average temperature for the whole year is about -2°C (28°F).
