Kearney County is a place in the state of Nebraska, USA. In 2020, about 6,688 people lived there. The main town and county seat is Minden.
Kearney County was created in 1860. It is named after Fort Kearny. The fort itself was named after General Stephen W. Kearny. Kearney County is also part of a larger area called the Kearney Micropolitan Statistical Area.
On Nebraska license plates, Kearney County has the number 52. This is because it had the 52nd most registered cars when the license plate system began in 1922.

Geography
Kearney County has gentle, rolling hills. Most of the land is used for farming. The Platte River flows along the northern edge of the county. The county covers a total area of about 516 square miles. Almost all of this is land, with only a tiny bit of water.
