Kenny Stills (born April 22, 1992) is an American former professional football player. He was a wide receiver, which means he caught passes from the quarterback. He played college football for the Oklahoma Sooners. Later, he was chosen by the New Orleans Saints in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Early Life and High School Sports

Kenny Stills grew up in Carlsbad, California. He went to La Costa Canyon High School. There, he was a fantastic athlete in three different sports: football, basketball, and track.

In football, he was a star wide receiver. As a sophomore, he caught 30 passes for 627 yards and scored six touchdowns. In his junior year, he caught 62 passes for 1,500 yards and 17 touchdowns! By his senior year in 2009, he was named to the CIF first-team. He had 45 catches for 914 yards and 10 touchdowns that year. His total of 3,041 receiving yards set a new record for the San Diego area.

Kenny was also a great track and field athlete. He was a fast sprinter. In 2009, he placed third in both the 100-meter dash (10.84 seconds) and the 200-meter dash (21.76 seconds).

College Football Career

After high school, Kenny Stills went to the University of Oklahoma. He played for the Oklahoma Sooners football team from 2010 to 2012. His coach was Bob Stoops.

Kenny started every game as a freshman in 2010. He caught 61 passes for 786 yards and scored five touchdowns. In 2011, he had 61 catches for 849 yards and eight touchdowns. His best college year was 2012, with 82 catches for 959 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Overall, in his three years at Oklahoma, Kenny had 204 catches for 2,594 yards and 24 touchdowns. After the 2012 season, he decided to enter the NFL Draft early.

Professional Football Career

New Orleans Saints (First Time)

The New Orleans Saints picked Kenny Stills in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL draft. He was the 16th wide receiver chosen that year. In May 2013, he signed a four-year contract with the Saints.

Kenny made his first NFL appearance in the season-opener against the Atlanta Falcons. He caught two passes for 86 yards in a Saints victory. In Week 2, he started his first NFL game.

In Week 6, Kenny scored his first NFL touchdown. It was a 34-yard pass from quarterback Drew Brees. On October 27, 2013, he had a fantastic game against the Buffalo Bills. He caught three passes for 129 yards and scored two touchdowns!

In his first year, Kenny had 32 catches for 641 yards and five touchdowns. In 2014, he had even more catches and yards. He caught 63 passes for 931 yards and three touchdowns.

Miami Dolphins

In March 2015, Kenny Stills was traded to the Miami Dolphins. In his first season with the Dolphins (2015), he had 27 catches for 440 yards and three touchdowns. In 2016, he started all 16 games. He had 42 catches for 726 yards and scored nine touchdowns, which was his career high!

Kenny Stills also used his platform to speak out about important issues. For example, in 2016, he joined teammates in kneeling during the national anthem. This was a peaceful protest against police brutality.

In March 2017, Kenny signed a new four-year contract with the Dolphins. In Week 7 of 2017, he made an amazing catch against the New York Jets. The ball bounced off a defender and came right back to him for the catch! He finished that game with 85 yards and two touchdowns. In Week 11, he had 180 yards and a touchdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. For the 2017 season, he had 58 catches for 847 yards and six touchdowns.

In the 2018 season opener, Kenny had four catches for 106 yards and two touchdowns. One of these was a 75-yard catch! In Week 14, he was part of a famous play called the "Miracle in Miami". He caught a pass, then lateraled (passed it sideways) to another player, who then lateraled to Kenyan Drake. Drake ran for a 52-yard touchdown to win the game with no time left!

Kenny finished the 2018 season with 37 catches for 553 yards and six touchdowns.

Houston Texans

In August 2019, Kenny Stills was traded to the Houston Texans. He made his Texans debut against his old team, the New Orleans Saints. He caught three passes for 37 yards and a touchdown in that game.

In Week 15 against the Tennessee Titans, Kenny caught three passes for 35 yards and two touchdowns. For the 2019 season, he had 40 catches for 561 yards and four touchdowns. In the playoffs, he caught a 54-yard touchdown pass against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Kenny was released by the Texans in November 2020. Before that, he had 11 catches for 144 yards and one touchdown that season.

Buffalo Bills

In January 2021, Kenny Stills joined the Buffalo Bills' practice squad. He was moved to the main team for a playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

New Orleans Saints (Second Time)

Kenny Stills returned to the Saints in September 2021, joining their practice squad. He was later moved to the main team. In Week 9, he scored his first touchdown back with the Saints. He was released in December but then re-signed a few days later. In 2021, he played in 13 games and had six catches for 68 yards and one touchdown.

Personal Life

Kenny Stills Jr. comes from a family of football players. His father, Ken Stills, played in the National Football League from 1985 to 1990. His uncle, Gary Stills, also played in the NFL as a linebacker. Kenny's cousins, Dante Stills and Darius Stills, played football together at West Virginia University.
