Kevin Tyree Dyson (born June 23, 1975) is a former American football player. He was a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL). Kevin played college football for the Utah Utes. The Tennessee Oilers picked him as the 16th player in the 1998 NFL draft.
Dyson is famous for being part of two amazing NFL plays: the Music City Miracle and The Tackle. He and his brother Andre made history. They were the first brothers in the NFL to score touchdowns in the same game.
After his football career, Kevin Dyson went back to school. He earned two master's degrees and a doctorate. He then became a principal at a middle school and later a high school.

Early Life and College Football
Kevin Dyson was born in Logan, Utah. He finished high school in 1993 at Clearfield High School in Clearfield, Utah. In his last year of high school, he helped his team win the 1992 State 4A championship. This was a big achievement for his team.
He then went to the University of Utah. There, he played for the Utah Utes football team for five seasons, from 1993 to 1997. He earned a degree in sociology in 1997. As a starting player for four seasons, Dyson caught 192 passes. He gained 2,726 yards and scored 18 touchdowns.
Professional Football Career Highlights
Kevin Dyson played for the Tennessee Titans from 1998 to 2002. He wore jersey number 87. During the 1999 playoffs, he was part of two of the most memorable plays in NFL history.
One play was called the Music City Miracle. In this play, Kevin Dyson caught a special lateral throw from Frank Wycheck. This helped his team win a key playoff game.
The other famous play was called The Tackle. This happened in Super Bowl XXXIV. Kevin Dyson was tackled by Mike Jones just one yard short of scoring a touchdown. This tackle happened as time ran out, and it stopped the Titans from possibly tying or winning the Super Bowl.
After the Titans, Dyson played for the Carolina Panthers in 2003. He did not play much because of an injury. He did appear briefly in Super Bowl XXXVIII. The San Diego Chargers signed him for the 2004 season, but they later let him go. In 2005, he signed with the Washington Redskins. However, he was cut from the team before the season started.
Kevin Dyson played for 6 seasons in the NFL. He finished his career with 178 catches. He gained 2,325 receiving yards and scored 18 touchdowns.
Life After Football: Education and Coaching
After retiring from playing football, Kevin Dyson focused on his education. He earned a Master of Education degree in 2007 from Trevecca Nazarene University. He then continued his studies and earned a doctorate from the same university.
From 2007 to 2009, Dyson worked as a counselor and a wide receiver coach. He coached at Glencliff Comprehensive High School in Nashville. Since 2008, he has also been on the board of an organization called Students Taking A Right Stand. Later, he became a coach for receivers and backs at Independence High School. He also served as the athletic director there. In 2010, he became the head coach.
Dyson also worked as an assistant principal at Independence High School. He then became the principal of Grassland Middle School in Franklin, Tennessee. On April 22, 2021, he was named the principal at Centennial High School, also in Franklin.
Personal Life
Kevin Dyson is the older brother of Andre Dyson. Andre was also an NFL cornerback and played with Kevin on the Titans for a short time. During his football career, Kevin lived in Nashville and Salt Lake City.
