Michael Anthony Jones, born on April 15, 1969, is an American football coach and a former player. He played as a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) for 13 seasons, from 1991 to 2002. He played for teams like the Los Angeles/Oakland Raiders, the St. Louis Rams, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mike Jones is most famous for a game-winning tackle in Super Bowl XXXIV, often called "the Tackle".

College Football Journey
Mike Jones went to the University of Missouri from 1987 to 1990. There, he played as a running back. He set a school record for the most catches by a running back, with 72 receptions during his college career.
Playing in the NFL
Mike Jones was not chosen in the 1991 NFL draft. However, he signed with the Raiders as a new player without a team. He then changed his position to linebacker.
Playing for the Raiders
Between his first and second years with the Raiders, Jones played for the Sacramento Surge in the World League of American Football. He was the main middle linebacker for the Surge team that won the 1992 World Bowl II. Jones was the Raiders' top tackler in both the 1995 and 1996 seasons.
Time with the St. Louis Rams
Mike Jones is best remembered for a play he made in Super Bowl XXXIV. This play is known as the Tackle. In the final moments of the game, he tackled Tennessee Titans receiver Kevin Dyson just one yard from the goal line. This amazing play saved the game and helped the Rams win the Super Bowl.
During the 1999 season, he made one sack and four interceptions. He returned two of these interceptions for touchdowns. He also recovered two fumbles, returning one for another touchdown. After the 2000 season, Jones left the Rams.
Later NFL Teams
Jones signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers on April 22, 2001. He later played his final season with the Oakland Raiders in 2002. He ended his 12-year NFL career with impressive stats. He had nine sacks, eight interceptions, and four touchdowns (two from interceptions and two from fumble recoveries) in 183 games.
Coaching Career
After he stopped playing football, Mike Jones became a coach. He spent six seasons coaching high school football at Hazelwood East High School in St. Louis, Missouri. He led the team to win a state championship as their head coach in 2008.
In 2010, he coached the linebackers at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He then became the head football coach at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri. Mike Jones is now the head coach at St. Louis University High School.
Jones was also featured on NFL Top 10's "Top Ten One Shot Wonders" list, ranking at number 10 for his famous Super Bowl tackle.
