Khan Kluay (Thai: ก้านกล้วย) is an exciting 2006 Thai 3D computer-animated action-adventure movie. It tells the story of a brave Thai elephant named Khan Kluay. The film is set in ancient Siam, during the time of the Ayutthaya Kingdom. Khan Kluay gets separated from his mother and later becomes a powerful war elephant for King Naresuan.
This movie is based on a story called "Chao Praya Prab Hongsawadee" by Ariya Jintapanichkarn. It was released in different countries with different names. In India, it was called Jumbo, and in the United States, it was known as The Blue Elephant. There's also a sequel, Khan Kluay 2, which follows Khan Kluay's two elephant children and new adventures.
Kompin Kemgumnird directed Khan Kluay. He is a talented animator who worked on big Disney movies like Atlantis: The Lost Empire and Tarzan. He also worked on Blue Sky Studios' Ice Age. The movie was made by Kantana Animation. It was the first 3D animated movie ever made in Thailand. It was also the first animated Thai movie released since The Adventure of Sudsakorn in 1979. Khan Kluay took three years to create. It first came out in Thailand on May 18, 2006. Later, an animated TV show called The Adventures of Khan Kluay was also made.

The Story of Khan Kluay
The movie follows Khan Kluay, a young elephant born in the wild. His main goal is to find his father. Along his journey, he meets King Naresuan, who becomes his first human friend. Khan Kluay grows up to be a strong and loyal war elephant, helping the king protect his kingdom.

Movie Releases Around the World
Khan Kluay first came out in Thailand on May 18, 2006. A special outdoor showing was even held for Asian elephants and their mahouts in Ayutthaya Province.
Release in the United States
The film was released in the US on September 2, 2008. It was called The Blue Elephant. The Jim Henson Company and The Weinstein Company released it directly to DVD. Famous actors like Martin Short, Miranda Cosgrove, and Carl Reiner provided new voices for the characters. Some parts of the movie were changed for the US version.
Release in India
In India, the movie was released on December 25, 2008. It was named Jumbo. The Percept Picture Company released this version. Indian actors like Akshay Kumar and Rajpal Yadav voiced the characters.

Television Series
An animated TV show called The Adventures of Khan Kluay was made by Kantana Animation Studio. It was shown on BBTV Channel 7. In 2016, Khan Kluay also appeared in short animations. These animations were shown before a government program called Thailand Move Forward.
Sequel Movie
A second movie, Khan Kluay 2, was released in 2009.
