Kienberg is a small town, also called a municipality, located in Switzerland. It's part of the Gösgen district in the canton of Solothurn. Kienberg is a peaceful place with a rich history and beautiful natural surroundings.

History of Kienberg

Kienberg was first mentioned in old records way back in 1173. At that time, it was called Vlricus et Hartmannus de Chienberh. Later, in 1276, it was known as dorff ze Kiemberg. This shows that Kienberg has been a settled place for a very long time!

Kienberg covers an area of about 8.53 square kilometers (around 3.3 square miles). A big part of this land, almost half, is used for farming. This means there are lots of fields and pastures.

Another large part of Kienberg, about 45.7%, is covered by forests. Imagine exploring all those trees! A smaller part of the land has buildings and roads, making up about 4.3% of the area.

Kienberg is located in the Gösgen district. It sits right on the edge between the Jura Plateau and the Fricktal region. You can also find it on the road that goes over the Salhöhe pass.
