Anwil is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the Sissach district. It is part of the canton of Basel-Country in Switzerland.

Anwil covers an area of about 3.96 square kilometers (or 1.53 square miles). Imagine a place where most of the land is green and open! About 63.6% of Anwil is used for farming, and 27.8% is covered by forests.

A smaller part, about 8.1%, has buildings and roads. Very little of the land, less than 1%, is made up of rivers or lakes, or is unproductive land.

Anwil is the easternmost town in its half-canton. It's a special kind of village called a haufendorf. This means it's an irregular, unplanned village with buildings packed closely together around a central area. You can find Anwil nestled in the Jura Mountains, between the Ergolz valleys and the Kienberger Eital.
