Lazonby is a village in Cumbria, England. It is found in the Lower Eden Valley. The village is about 8 miles (13 km) north-east of Penrith. It is also about 24 miles (38 km) south of the Scottish Borders. Lazonby is now part of the Westmorland and Furness area.
In 2011, the village of Lazonby had a population of 976 people. The wider area, including nearby villages, had about 1,425 people in 2001.

About Lazonby Village
Lazonby is home to many useful places and services. It has a church and a chapel. There are also two local pubs, called the Midland Hotel and the Joiner's Arms.
The village has its own primary school. There is also a fire station and a supermarket with a post office. You can find a place to buy livestock and a swimming pool here. Lazonby also has a train station on the Settle-Carlisle line. A bakery complex called Bell's of Lazonby is also in the village.
You can visit an independent wooden toy shop. It is called Croglin Toys & Designs. This shop is located in an old school building. There is also a petrol station. The village has a community hall with a snooker club.
St. Nicholas Church
The parish church in Lazonby is called St. Nicholas. It works together with churches in nearby Great Salkeld and Kirkoswald. The church was rebuilt between 1864 and 1866. A special feature inside is the woodwork. This was done by Canon B W Wilson, who was the Rector from 1877 to 1920. You can see his work on the doors, pulpit, and screens.
Outside the church, at the top of the graveyard, there is a large stone cross. It is very old, possibly from the 10th century. The church also has four bells that can be rung.
Village Life and Surroundings
In recent years, many new houses have been built in Lazonby. Most people living in the village today work in Penrith or Carlisle.
The area around Lazonby includes small settlements like Baronwood and Brackenbank. At a place called Low Plains, there is a factory that bottles "Aqua Pura" mineral water.

Lazonby is a lively village with regular events.
Youth Pantomime
The Kirkoswald Methodist Youth Guild puts on a local pantomime. This group is for young people aged 11 and older. They have been performing pantomimes for over 40 years. These shows take place in the village hall. People come from many places to see them. The group also does other activities throughout the year.
Lazonby Music Festival
Since 2008, Lazonby has hosted a music concert every two years. These events feature both local and national bands. The first festival was called Lazonby Fest in 2008. Lazonby Live took place in 2010. These festivals help raise money for the local school and other charities. After a break in 2012, Lazonby Live returned in 2013 at a new location.

Lazonby is part of an electoral ward. An electoral ward is an area that elects a representative to a local council. This ward also includes Great Salkeld. In 2011, the total population of this ward was 1,388 people.

Train Services
Lazonby & Kirkoswald railway station is on the Settle-Carlisle line. This train line connects Leeds and Carlisle. Northern Trains operates regular services on this line.
Bus Routes
Two bus routes run through Lazonby. They are operated by a company called Fellrunner.
- Route 130 travels between Melmerby and Carlisle. It runs once each way on Wednesdays.
- Route 137 travels between Langwathby and Penrith. It runs once each way on Thursdays.
