Linthouse is a lively neighborhood in the city of Glasgow, Scotland. It sits right on the south side of the River Clyde. Linthouse is just west of Govan, and other nearby areas include Shieldhall and Drumoyne.
Even though it's now part of the Govan ward within Glasgow City Council, Linthouse was once a separate place. It joined Govan in 1901 and then both areas became part of Glasgow in 1912.

Discovering Linthouse: A Historic Glasgow Area
Linthouse has a rich history, especially with shipbuilding and community life.
Linthouse's Shipbuilding Story
For many years, Linthouse was home to a famous shipbuilder called Alexander Stephen and Sons Limited. This company built many well-known ships. Some of these ships were even for the Royal Navy during the 20th century. Imagine all the amazing vessels that came to life right here!
A Look at Local Faith and Football
Linthouse used to have its own separate Church of Scotland parish. This was called Linthouse St. Kenneth. However, in November 2007, it joined with the nearby parishes of Govan Old and New Govan. Together, they formed the new Govan and Linthouse parish.
Towards the end of the 1800s, there was even a Scottish Football League team from the area! This team was called Linthouse F.C.. While they were part of the league, they played their games at Govandale Park. This park was located close to Govan Old Parish Church.
Community Spirit in Linthouse Today
Linthouse is a place with a strong community. The Linthouse Urban Village is a group that works to make the Linthouse area even better. It's part of a bigger organization called the Govan Initiative.
They run a cool place called the LUV cafe on Govan Road. They also have a gallery across the street where you can see local art and projects.
Every year, Linthouse also hosts a fun Christmas market. This market takes place in the "Tunnel Park." From there, you can even see the Clyde Tunnel!
