A Commissioners' church is a special kind of Anglican church in the United Kingdom. These churches were built using money approved by the UK government through a law called the Church Building Act of 1818, and other similar laws that followed. People sometimes call them "Waterloo Churches" or "Million Act Churches."

Sometimes, the government paid for the whole church. Other times, they gave a grant (a sum of money), and local people had to raise the rest. This article lists the Commissioners' churches that were built in Wales.

What are Listed Buildings?

In the UK, some buildings are given a special "listed" status. This means they are important because of their history or unique design, and they are protected. There are different levels of importance:

  • Grade I: These are buildings that are super important and very special. They are like national treasures!
  • Grade II*: These buildings are also very important, but maybe not quite as rare as Grade I.
  • Grade II: These buildings are important and have a special interest, but there are more of them than Grade I or II*.

If a church doesn't have a grade, it means it's not officially listed.
