List of dams and reservoirs in Pennsylvania facts for kids
Dams are like giant walls built across rivers. They create large lakes behind them, called reservoirs. These reservoirs are super important because they store water for many uses, like providing drinking water for towns, generating electricity, controlling floods, and offering fun places for boating and fishing.
Pennsylvania has many dams and reservoirs. Some of them are really big! A "major dam" is usually at least 50 feet (about 15 meters) tall, or it can hold a very large amount of water, enough to fill many Olympic-sized swimming pools.
