List of prime ministers of Charles III facts for kids

Charles III is the head of state for 15 different countries around the world. These countries are called Commonwealth realms. Think of him as the top leader, even though he doesn't usually make the daily decisions.
In each of these countries, there's a special system of government called the Westminster system. This system means that the King's government is led by a prime minister. The prime minister is the main political leader who runs the country day-to-day.
King Charles III, or his special representative called a Governor-General, has the power to choose or remove prime ministers. This is a special power known as a reserve power. Since King Charles III became King, seven new prime ministers have been appointed. The first was Rishi Sunak in the United Kingdom on October 25, 2022. The most recent was Mark Carney in Canada on March 14, 2025.
This list only includes prime ministers from countries where King Charles is the head of state. It does not include other Commonwealth nations where he is not the head of state. It also doesn't include leaders of smaller areas like states or provinces within a country.
