Upstate New York is the part of New York that's north of New York City and Westchester County. It's home to many tall buildings called skyscrapers and high-rises. The very tallest building in all of New York State is the One World Trade Center. It has 104 floors and stands 1,776 feet (541 meters) tall in Lower Manhattan, New York City. It was finished in 2014.
New York City has most of the state's skyscrapers. But outside the city, you'll find many tall buildings in Albany, Buffalo, and Rochester. The tallest building in Upstate New York is the Erastus Corning Tower. It's 44 stories high and reaches 589 feet (180 meters) into the sky in Albany, which is the state's capital city. Even though it's the tallest in Upstate New York, it's not among the 100 tallest buildings in the whole state when you include all the giant skyscrapers in New York City.

We measure their height from the ground to the very top, including any spires or cool architectural parts. We don't count antenna masts. Which Buildings Were Once the Tallest?
This section lists buildings that used to be the tallest in Upstate New York. Saint Paul's Episcopal Cathedral was the tallest twice! It held the title before and after a temporary building called the original Electric Tower was taken down. That first Electric Tower was built just for the Pan-American Exposition event and wasn't meant to last long.
