George V had different titles as he grew up and became king. These titles showed his place in the royal family.

  • Prince George of Wales: From 1865 to 1892, he was known as "His Royal Highness Prince George of Wales."
  • Duke of York: From 1892 to 1901, he became "His Royal Highness The Duke of York."
  • Duke of Cornwall and York: For a short time in 1901, he was "His Royal Highness The Duke of Cornwall and York."
  • Prince of Wales: From 1901 to 1910, he was "His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales." This title is usually given to the heir to the throne.
