Llano is a small community in Los Angeles County, California, United States. It is not an official city, but rather an unincorporated area. The name Llano comes from the Spanish word for "plain," which describes the flat land there. It is located close to the border of San Bernardino County.

Llano's Past

Long ago, there was a special community called Llano del Rio near this area. It was a unique place where people tried to live together in a new way. This community was abandoned in 1918. Today, you can still see the old ruins of Llano del Rio along Highway 138.

Where Llano Is

Llano is located in Southern California, in a part known as the Antelope Valley. It is about 25 miles (40 kilometers) southeast of Palmdale. To the west of Llano, you'll find the town of Pearblossom. To the east is Piñon Hills. Llano is also just a few miles away from the San Gabriel Mountains.

The main roads that go through Llano are Pearblossom Highway, which is also known as State Route 18 and State Route 138.

Famous People

  • The famous writer Aldous Huxley used to live in Llano. His former home is now called Pearblossom Picture Ranch. This ranch is often used as a place where movies and TV shows are filmed.
