Mülheim, officially known as Mülheim an der Ruhr, is a cool city in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. People sometimes call it the "City on the River" because it's right on the Ruhr River. It's located in the Ruhr Area, which is a big region with many cities. Mülheim is surrounded by cities like Duisburg, Essen, Oberhausen, and Ratingen.

Mülheim became an official town in 1808. About 100 years later, its population grew to over 100,000 people, making it a true city! When Mülheim celebrated its 200th birthday, it had around 170,000 residents.
