The M67 is a special kind of road called a motorway in Greater Manchester, England. Motorways are designed for fast travel, with no traffic lights or roundabouts.
The M67 starts from the M60, which is a big ring road around Manchester. It then goes through the towns of Denton and Hyde. After the motorway ends, the road continues as the A628. This A628 road heads towards cities like Sheffield and Barnsley.
When the M67 was first planned, the idea was for it to go all the way to Sheffield. This would have meant building a road right through the Pennines, a range of hills. However, this longer motorway was never built. The M67 is about 5 miles (8 kilometers) long.
Connecting Roads
The M67 motorway connects to other important roads. These connections are called junctions.
- Junction 1: This is where the M67 meets the M60. The M60 can take you to places like Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, and Manchester Airport. You can also get to Manchester city centre from here using the A57 road.
- Junction 1a: This junction connects to the A6017 road in Denton.
- Junction 2: This junction connects to the A57 road in Denton.
- Junction 3: This junction connects to the A57 road in Hyde.
At the end of the M67, you can continue on the A57 and A628 roads. These roads lead towards big cities like Sheffield and Barnsley. You can also reach the M1 from here, which is another major motorway. Other towns like Mottram, Glossop, Hyde, and Stockport can also be reached from the end of the M67.
