History of Medley
The town of Medley is named after its founder, Sylvester Medley. He first settled in the area in 1905 and farmed there. The Town of Medley officially became a town on May 1, 1949.
Medley is located in the western part of Miami-Dade County. It has a small population because its main purpose is for industrial businesses. This means many companies have their factories and offices there. Two big companies in Medley are a Rinker plant and the Titan America Pennsuco Cement Plant.
Geography and Location
The Town of Medley is about 12 miles (19 km) northwest of downtown Miami. Its exact location is 25°51′30″N 80°20′21″W / 25.85833°N 80.33917°W.
Medley shares borders with other cities:
- To the north, it borders Hialeah Gardens and Hialeah.
- To the east, it borders Hialeah.
- To the south, it borders Doral.
The Miami Canal acts as a natural border between Medley and the cities of Hialeah Gardens and Hialeah.
