Mitchell Ross Marsh (born 20 October 1991) is an Australian international cricket player. He plays for Australia in all three main types of cricket games. Mitch is currently the captain for Australia's T20I team. He is also the vice-captain for the ODI team.
Marsh has been a key player in several Australian teams that won big tournaments. He helped Australia win the 2015 Cricket World Cup and the 2021 T20 World Cup. He was also vice-captain when Australia won the 2023 Cricket World Cup.
At home in Australia, Marsh plays for Western Australia. He also plays for Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League. He has played for several teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) too.

About Mitch Marsh
Mitch Marsh comes from a famous cricket family. His dad, Geoff Marsh, and older brother, Shaun Marsh, both played for Australia. His sister, Melissa Marsh, was a professional basketball player. His cousin, Brad Sheppard, played AFL.
Mitch grew up in Perth, Western Australia. He went to Wesley College. When he was younger, he was also a very good Australian rules football player. He even played for Western Australia in a big junior championship.
In April 2023, Mitch Marsh got married to Greta Mack.
Playing Cricket at Home
Mitch Marsh started playing for the Western Australia Warriors when he was just 17. This made him the youngest player in an Australian domestic one-day game in 70 years.
In 2009, he played for Australia's Under-19 team. He was the captain of this team during the 2010 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Under his leadership, Australia won the tournament! Mitch scored 201 runs in the tournament. He even scored 97 runs in the semi-final, which helped his team win.
Mitch also played in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He joined the Deccan Chargers in 2010. Later, he played for Pune Warriors India and then Rising Pune Supergiants. In 2022, he was bought by the Delhi Capitals. He also signed to play for the Seattle Orcas in the first Major League Cricket in 2023.
In 2014, while playing for Australia A, Marsh scored an amazing 211 runs. This was his first time scoring over 200 runs in a single game. He and another player, Sam Whiteman, made a huge partnership of 371 runs. This was a new Australian record for the seventh wicket!
Playing for Australia
Early International Games
Mitch Marsh first played for Australia in 2011. He joined the Twenty20 (T20) team for a tour of South Africa. He made a great start in his first T20 game, scoring 36 runs. He hit three sixes in the very last over!
In 2014, he scored 89 runs against Zimbabwe. He also scored 86 runs without being out against South Africa. Mitch made his first Test match appearance for Australia in October 2014. This was against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates.
Big Wins and Milestones
Mitch played a big role in Australia's win at the 2015 Cricket World Cup. He took five wickets in one game against England. In 2016, he scored his first century (100 runs) in a One Day International (ODI) game against India.
Later, in the 2017–18 Ashes series, he scored his first Test century. He made 181 runs in that game. In 2019, he took his first five-wicket haul in Test cricket. This means he took five wickets in one innings of a game.
Recent International Career
In July 2021, Mitch Marsh was promoted to bat at number 3 in T20I games. He scored several half-centuries (over 50 runs) during tours of the West Indies and Bangladesh. He also took his best T20I bowling figures, getting 3 wickets for 24 runs.
Marsh was a key player in Australia's 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup win. He scored 77 runs in the final match. This amazing performance earned him the "Player of the Match" award.
In March 2023, Marsh opened the batting in ODIs for the first time against India. He scored 81, 66 not out, and 47 runs. He was named "Player of the Series" for his great batting.
Later in 2023, Marsh made a big return to Test cricket during The Ashes series in England. He scored a quick 118 runs from 118 balls. This was his third Test century and his first outside Australia.
In August 2023, Mitch Marsh was named captain for both the T20I and ODI teams for a tour of South Africa. In his first game as T20I captain, he scored a career-high 92 runs without being out. He was named "Player of the Series" for his leadership and batting.
Marsh was also Australia's ODI vice-captain for the 2023 Cricket World Cup. He scored two centuries in the tournament, including his highest ODI score of 177 not out against Bangladesh. Australia went on to win the World Cup!
In 2024, Marsh captained Australia in the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. He also continued to play well in Test matches at home.
