Mitchell Ross Marsh (born 20 October 1991) is an Australian international cricket player. He plays for Australia in One Day Internationals (ODIs) and is the captain in Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). Mitch has also played Test cricket and has been a captain or vice-captain in other cricket formats.
He currently plays for Western Australia in local games. He also plays for Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League and the Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League.
Mitch Marsh was part of the Australian teams that won the 2015 Cricket World Cup and the 2021 T20 World Cup. He was also the vice-captain for the team that won the 2023 Cricket World Cup.
He has played for other teams like Deccan Chargers, Pune Warriors India, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Delhi Capitals.

Meet Mitch Marsh
Early Life and Family
Mitch Marsh was born on October 20, 1991. He grew up in Perth, Western Australia. He went to Wesley College.
Cricket runs in his family! His dad, Geoff Marsh, and older brother, Shaun Marsh, both played for the Australian national team. His sister, Melissa Marsh, was a professional basketball player. His cousin, Brad Sheppard, played AFL.
When he was younger, Mitch was also a talented Australian rules football player. He even played for Western Australia in a big championship in 2008. Even though he's from Western Australia, he has always supported the North Melbourne Football Club.
In April 2023, Mitch Marsh married Greta Mack.
Playing for Teams
Mitch Marsh started playing for the Western Australia Warriors when he was just 17 years old in February 2009. He was the youngest player ever in an Australian domestic one-day game. He was also Western Australia's youngest player in 70 years!
In April 2009, he played for Australia's under-19 team against India. He became the team captain for the 2010 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Under his leadership, Australia won the tournament. Mitch played a big part, scoring 201 runs. He even scored 97 runs in the semi-final against Sri Lanka, which helped his team win.
Mitch also played in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He joined Deccan Chargers in 2010. Later, he played for Pune Warriors, which was coached by his father at the time. He also played for Rising Pune Supergiants, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Delhi Capitals. In 2023, he was signed by the Seattle Orcas for the first Major League Cricket season.
Record-Breaking Partnership
In July 2014, while playing for Australia A, Mitch Marsh scored an amazing 211 runs. This was his first double century! He and teammate Sam Whiteman (who scored 174 runs) made a huge partnership of 371 runs. This was an Australian record for the seventh wicket in first-class cricket.
International Highlights
Mitch Marsh made his debut for Australia in September 2011. He joined the Twenty20 squad to play in South Africa. He later joined the One Day International squad.
Early International Games
Mitch had a fantastic debut in his second T20I match. He scored 36 runs, including four sixes! In August 2014, he scored 89 runs against Zimbabwe. He also scored 86 runs without being out against South Africa.
He played his first Test match for Australia on 22 October 2014 against Pakistan.
World Cup Wins and Big Scores
Mitch played regularly in the One Day International team. He took five wickets in a single game against England during the 2015 Cricket World Cup. He also scored his first ODI century against India in 2016.
In the 2017–18 Ashes series, he scored his first Test century, getting 181 runs. This was almost as many runs as his brother Shaun's best score of 182. In 2019, he took his first five-wicket haul in Test cricket, getting 5/46 against England.
T20 World Cup Star
In July 2021, Mitch Marsh was promoted to bat at number 3 in T20Is. He scored his first T20I half-century, getting 51 runs. He continued to play well, scoring more half-centuries.
In August 2021, Mitch was chosen for Australia's squad for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. He played a key role in the tournament. In November 2021, he scored his sixth T20I half-century of the year in the final. He scored 77 runs and was named player of the match, helping Australia win the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup!
Captaincy and Recent Games
In August 2023, Mitch Marsh was named captain of both the T20I and ODI teams for a tour of South Africa. In his first game as T20I captain, he scored a career-high 92 runs without being out. He followed this with 77 runs without being out in the next match. Australia won the series 3-0, and Mitch was named player of the series.
In October 2023, Mitch was named Australia's ODI vice-captain for the 2023 World Cup. He scored his first ODI century since 2016 with 121 runs against Pakistan. He also scored his highest ODI score of 177 runs without being out against Bangladesh. Australia went on to win the World Cup.
In May 2024, Mitch Marsh was named Australia's captain for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. He continued to captain the T20I team in September 2024, leading Australia to a 3-0 series win against Scotland. He also captained the ODI team against England.
In December 2023, and January 2024, Mitch played in Test series against Pakistan and West Indies. He scored well against Pakistan, with scores like 90 and 96.
