Mondo Media, Inc. is an American company that creates cartoons and other fun media. It is best known for making online cartoons for teenagers and young adults. The company was started in 1988 by John Evershed and Deirdre O'Malley in San Francisco, California.
In its early days, Mondo Media made content for tech companies. It also created two video games: Critical Path in 1993 and The Daedalus Encounter in 1995. Later in the 1990s, the company began to focus on making cartoons for the internet. This became their main business.
Mondo's most famous shows are Happy Tree Friends and ... Figures. ... Figures was so popular that it was made into a movie and was nominated for a special award for animation.
By 2013, Mondo Media's YouTube channel was one of the most popular in the world. It had over a billion views. However, the company's website was blocked in Russia in 2021 because the government there banned Happy Tree Friends.
Television Shows
Mondo Media has worked with TV channels to create new shows. In 2013, they teamed up with the Canadian channel Bite for a project called Bite on Mondo. This project helped creators get money to make new shows. The best ideas were chosen and shown on TV.
In 2015, Mondo Media also produced a sketch comedy show called Like, Share, ... for the channel Fusion.
In 2016, Mondo Media joined with another animation company called 6 Point Harness. Now, Mondo produces its TV shows using the 6 Point Harness name.
