Montherod was once a small town, or municipality, in Switzerland. It was located in the canton of Vaud, specifically in the Morges area. On January 1, 2021, Montherod joined with the nearby town of Aubonne. This means it is no longer a separate municipality.

History of Montherod
Montherod was first mentioned in old records around the year 1344. Back then, it was known as Monterot.
Geography of Montherod
Montherod covered an area of about 4.97 square kilometers (1.92 sq mi). A large part of this land, about 46.5%, was used for agriculture, like growing crops. Another big part, 45.5%, was covered by forests.
The rest of the land, about 7.2%, had buildings and roads. A very small amount, 0.4%, was made up of rivers or lakes. Most of the forested land was dense forest. Farmers used their land for crops, pastures for animals, and some orchards or vineyards.
Montherod was located on the right side of the Aubonne river. It was also along the road that leads to Col du Marchairuz. The area included the main village of Montherod and several farmhouses spread out nearby.
Changes in Districts
Before August 31, 2006, Montherod was part of the Aubonne District. After that date, the Aubonne District was closed down. Montherod then became part of the newer Morges District.
Montherod's Coat of Arms
A coat of arms is a special design that represents a town or family. Montherod's coat of arms is described as Gules, three Corn Ears Or. This means it has a red background (Gules) and shows three golden corn ears (Or).

In 2019, Montherod had a population of 536 people. About 22.1% of the people living there in 2008 were foreign nationals. Over ten years, from 1999 to 2009, the population grew by 21.3%. This growth was mostly due to people moving into the area.

Most people in Montherod speak French. In 2000, about 87% of the population spoke French. The next most common language was German, spoken by about 4.6% of the people. English was third, spoken by about 3% of the residents.
