Montricher is a small town, also called a municipality, in Switzerland. It is located in the canton of Vaud, within the Morges area.

Montricher's Past: A Look at Its History
Montricher was first mentioned in old records way back in 1049. Back then, it was called Mons Richarius. Later, in 1301, its name changed to Montricher, which is what we call it today.

Montricher covers an area of about 25.98 square kilometers (about 10 square miles). A big part of this land, about 38.6%, is used for farming. Even more, about 57.4%, is covered by forests. The rest of the land includes buildings, roads, and a small amount of rivers.
The town is nestled in the forested hills at the base of the Jura Mountains. Montricher is also home to Mont Tendre, which is the highest mountain peak in the Swiss Jura Mountains. It stands tall at 1,679 meters (about 5,508 feet) above sea level.
Before 2006, Montricher was part of the Cossonay District. But on August 31, 2006, it became part of the new Morges district.
