Mount Moroni is a mountain located in Zion National Park in southwest Utah, United States. It stands about 5,690 feet (1,734 meters) tall. This mountain is made of a type of rock called Navajo Sandstone. You can find it near a famous spot called the Court of the Patriarchs.

About Mount Moroni

Mount Moroni is just southwest of the Zion Lodge. It rises about 1,400 feet (425 meters) above the floor of Zion Canyon. The Virgin River flows right next to it. This river helps drain water from the mountain when it rains or snows.

Mount Moroni has many famous neighbors. These include The Sentinel, Mountain of the Sun, Twin Brothers, Mount Spry, and The East Temple. It is also near the Three Patriarchs: Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

How Mount Moroni Got Its Name

The name "Mount Moroni" was officially chosen in 1934. It is named after Angel Moroni. Angel Moroni is an important figure in the Book of Mormon. He is believed to have given golden plates to Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith then translated these plates to create the Book of Mormon.

Weather at Mount Moroni

The best times to visit Mount Moroni are in spring and fall. The area has a "cold semi-arid climate." This means it's a desert climate. The coldest month usually has an average temperature below 32 °F (0 °C). Also, more than half of the yearly rain falls during spring and summer.

This desert area gets less than 10 inches (254 millimeters) of rain each year. Snowfall in winter is usually light.
