Munhall is a small town, called a borough, located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It sits on the west side of the Monongahela River. In 2020, about 10,774 people lived there. Munhall is a neighborhood near the big city of Pittsburgh.
This town is about 8 miles (13 km) south of where the Monongahela and Allegheny rivers meet to form the Ohio River. It's right next to the town of Homestead. A big part of the old Homestead Steel Works, owned by the Carnegie Steel Company, used to be in Munhall. Munhall, Homestead, and West Homestead all share the same school system, called the Steel Valley School District.

Munhall's History
A post office opened in Munhall in 1887. The borough officially became a town on June 24, 1901. It was created from a part of Mifflin Township. The town was named after John Munhall, who originally owned the land where the town now stands.

Munhall is located at coordinates 40°23′28″N 79°54′4″W / 40.39111°N 79.90111°W.
The town covers a total area of about 2.4 square miles (6.2 km²). Most of this area, about 2.3 square miles (6.0 km²), is land. The rest, about 0.1 square miles (0.26 km²), is water, making up about 4.55% of its total area.

Munhall shares its land borders with six other places. To the east is Whitaker. To the south and east is West Mifflin. West Homestead is to the west, and Homestead is to the northwest. Two Pittsburgh neighborhoods, Lincoln Place and New Homestead, are to the southwest and south-southwest.
Across the Monongahela River, Munhall is next to the Pittsburgh neighborhood of Swisshelm Park, as well as the towns of Swissvale and Rankin.

In 2000, there were 12,264 people living in Munhall. They lived in 5,364 homes, and 3,239 of these were families. The population density was about 5,311 people per square mile (2,051 per km²).
Most of the people in Munhall were White (94.78%). About 3.38% were African American, and 0.61% were Asian. A small number of people were from other backgrounds. About 0.80% of the population was Hispanic or Latino.
About 24.5% of homes had children under 18 living there. Many homes (43.5%) were married couples. About 13.4% had a female head of household with no husband present.
The average age of people in Munhall was 42 years old. About 20.7% of the population was under 18. About 22.3% of the people were 65 years old or older. For every 100 females, there were about 85 males.
Arts and Fun in Munhall
The Homestead Library, which is in Munhall, was a gift from Andrew Carnegie in 1896. Over the last 25 years, it has been updated and made modern. It now has new lighting and computers for visitors.
The library also has fun things like indoor pools, basketball courts, and other places to play. It's a great spot for both learning and recreation.
In 2000, a large shopping center called The Waterfront opened. It was built on the land where the Carnegie Steel Works used to be. Most of the old steel mill buildings were taken down to build this center. However, some of the brick smokestacks from the old Homestead Steel Works are still standing.
Also, near the river, there's an old mill building called the Pump House. It was fixed up by the people who built The Waterfront. The Byzantine Catholic Cathedral of St. John the Baptist is also located in Munhall.
The Great Allegheny Passage is a special path that runs through Munhall, right next to the river. This path is part of a longer trail that connects Pittsburgh all the way to Washington, D.C.. It's perfect for biking or walking.
