Yarmouth, officially known as the Municipality of the District of Yarmouth, is a special type of local government area. It is located in Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia, Canada. This area is considered a district municipality by Statistics Canada.
The Municipality of the District of Yarmouth covers the western part of Yarmouth County. It is one of three main local government areas in the county. The other two are the Town of Yarmouth and the Municipality of the District of Argyle.

In 2021, a study by Statistics Canada showed that 10,067 people lived in the Municipality of the District of Yarmouth. These people lived in 4,430 homes. This was a small increase of about 2.3% from 2016. The area of land is 584.69 square kilometers. This means there were about 17.2 people living per square kilometer in 2021.

Yarmouth has a climate that is greatly affected by the ocean. It is known as a humid continental climate, which is a type of climate with warm summers and cold winters. It is also very close to being an oceanic climate, which means it has mild temperatures all year round.

Winters in Yarmouth are cool and rainy. The average temperature in January is about -2.6°C. It rarely gets colder than -20°C. The average high temperature never drops below freezing, even in winter. During winter, the weather can be cloudy and stormy. This is often due to storms called "Nor'easters" that come from the southwest.
Yarmouth gets about 204.7 centimeters of snow each year. However, because winters are mild, the snow usually doesn't stay on the ground very deep.
