My Little Pony Crystal Princess: The Runaway Rainbow is an animated musical adventure movie. It came out in 2006. SD Entertainment made it, and Paramount Home Entertainment helped share it.

This film is the third movie in the third series of My Little Pony. It was also the second movie to introduce the Crystal Princess toys. Unlike the movie The Princess Promenade, some people didn't like this film as much. The DVD also came with two other animated stories: Greetings from Unicornia and Friends are Never Far Away. The "Friends are Never Far Away" story was first released in 2005.

The Runaway Rainbow was once available to watch online on hubworld.com. This website was a follow-up to Hasbro's MonkeyBarTV site. You could watch it there along with My Little Pony: A Very Minty Christmas and My Little Pony: The Princess Promenade. However, these movies were later taken off the site. The movie has been released again in a special 2-disc DVD collection. This collection is called My Little Pony: Classic Movie Collection. It also includes The Princess Promenade, Dancing in the Clouds, and Friends are Never Far Away.

The movie first aired on TV on August 8, 2014. It was shown on the Hub Network. This happened after a special event called "My Little Pony Mega Mare-athon". Many people watched this event, showing how popular My Little Pony is!

Story of the Runaway Rainbow

The ponies in Ponyville are getting ready for the big Rainbow Celebration. Everyone is excited to see the first rainbow of the season. Meanwhile, in the magical city of Unicornia, Cheerilee is teaching a young unicorn pony named Rarity. Rarity is learning how to be a Rainbow Princess. Her job is to create the First Rainbow of the Season using a special magic wand.

Rarity is still young and learning. She accidentally uses the wand, and it teleports her far away! She lands in the middle of Breezie Blossom. Cheerilee, Brights Brightly, and Whistle Wishes leave Unicornia to find her. Rarity soon makes friends with the Breezies. They all visit Ponyville together. After a while, Rarity starts to miss her home. Pinkie Pie, Minty, Rainbow Dash, Spike, and the Breezies all help her get back. They make it just in time for the first rainbow of the season!
