Nancy Fabiola Herrera is a talented Canarian mezzo-soprano opera singer. She was born in Venezuela, but her parents were from the Canary Islands. Nancy Fabiola Herrera is famous for her powerful voice and exciting performances. In 2007, she won the "Best Zarzuela Singer" award for her role in La Bruja, a Spanish musical play by Ruperto Chapí.

Early Career Highlights

In the summer of 2006, Nancy Fabiola Herrera performed in a special concert with the famous singer Plácido Domingo in Puerto Rico. That same year, she sang the role of Maddalena in Rigoletto with the Metropolitan Opera in Central Park, New York City. She also played Charlotte in Werther in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and starred as Luisa Fernanda in the opera Luisa Fernanda alongside Plácido Domingo at the Teatro Real in Madrid. A DVD of Luisa Fernanda won a special award called the Diapason d'Or.

Important Performances

During 2007 and 2008, Nancy Fabiola Herrera sang in Verdi's Requiem at the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, Spain. She also performed with the SODRE Symphony Orchestra in Montevideo, Uruguay. One of her most famous roles is Carmen, which she performed at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and The Royal Opera, Covent Garden, in London.

Her many opera roles include Adalgisa in Norma, Romeo in I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Giulietta in Les contes d'Hoffmann, and Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia.

International Debuts

Nancy Fabiola Herrera made her debut at the New National Theatre Tokyo as Carmen. She also performed for the first time at the Royal Opera in London as Suzuki in Madama Butterfly. Her first performance in Italy was at the Rome Opera, where she also sang the role of Carmen.

In 2009, she sang in the opera Roberto Devereux in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. She also performed the role of Dalila for the first time in the opera Samson et Dalila in Manaos, Brazil.

New Roles and Concerts

In 2010, Nancy Fabiola Herrera created a new role, Donna Rosa, in the first-ever performance of Daniel Catán's opera Il Postino at Los Angeles Opera.

As a concert soloist, she has performed with the New York Festival of Song and at the Caramoor International Music Festival. She has sung de Falla's El amor brujo with the Washington Opera and the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed in Bach's St Matthew Passion, Berlioz' Les nuits d'été, and Mahler's Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen with various orchestras.

She recorded Dante by Granados for ASV Records. She was also the main singer in Mahler's Symphony No. 3 with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria. She recorded Ricardo Llorca's Concierto Italiano as well. She has two recordings of El amor brujo: one with Enrique Bátis and another with the Cameristi di Trento e Verona for Naxos Records/Marco Polo.
