Negreira is a town and municipality in northwestern Spain. It's located in the province of A Coruña, which is part of the autonomous community of Galicia. You can find Negreira west of Santiago de Compostela, a famous city.

The town sits on the Tambre River. In 2011, about 7,074 people lived there. Negreira's local government also looks after nearby villages like Trians. It shares borders with other towns such as Ames, A Baña, Brión, Outes, Mazaricos, and Santa Comba.

Exploring Negreira's Location

Negreira is in a great spot along the Tambre River. Long ago, it was on an important road that connected different areas. The river also helped connect central Galicia with coastal places like Noia.

Today, Negreira is a busy center for trade in its region. The town's population is still growing. This is partly because it's close to Santiago de Compostela. Also, a new road makes it possible to travel between Negreira and Santiago in just 15 minutes. Housing prices in Negreira are also lower than in nearby areas, which attracts more people.

Football (Soccer)

In 2010, two local football clubs, Nicrariense Sports Association (ADN) and Negreira Sports Society (S.D. Negreira), joined together. This helped S.D. Negreira stay in the 3rd division of Galicia. It also helped the team manage its money better and gave young players a chance to play at a higher level.

A team for veteran football players was started in 1977. This allowed older players to keep enjoying the sport. Since 1980, this team has played in an international tournament with a Portuguese team called Serzedo. This friendly competition even led to the two towns becoming "twinned" in 1990.

Other Sports
