About Niagara Peak
Niagara Peak stands at an impressive height of 13,812 feet (about 4,209 meters) above sea level. Mountains that are between 13,000 and 13,999 feet tall are often called "thirteeners." This makes Niagara Peak one of the many high peaks in Colorado.
Where is Niagara Peak?
This mountain is located in a beautiful part of Colorado. It sits about 14.4 kilometers (9 miles) northeast of the Town of Silverton. The peak is special because it's right on the Continental Divide.
The Continental Divide
The Continental Divide is like a giant imaginary line that runs through the Americas. On one side, water from rain and snow flows towards the Atlantic Ocean. On the other side, it flows towards the Pacific Ocean. Niagara Peak is right on this important natural boundary.
Counties and Location
Niagara Peak is also unique because it's located on the border between two different counties in Colorado. These are Hinsdale County and San Juan County. This means the mountain is shared by both areas.
