Nikkhil Suresh Advani (born 28 April 1971) is an Indian director, producer, and screenwriter. He works mainly in Hindi cinema, which is the film industry in India. He helped start an entertainment company called Emmay Entertainment with his sister, Monisha Advani, and Madhu Bhojwani.

Early Life and Family
Nikkhil Advani grew up in Bombay (now Mumbai), Maharashtra, India. His family is from the Sindhi community. His father worked in big companies that made chemicals and medicines. His mother worked in advertising. His father is Sindhi, and his mother is Maharashtrian.
Nikkhil went to Green Lawns High School. Later, he earned a master's degree in chemistry from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai. He married his college friend, Suparna Gupta. They have a daughter named Keya. Nikkhil is related to famous film personalities like actor Tusshar Kapoor and producer Ekta Kapoor. His wife, Suparna Gupta, works to protect children's rights.
Film Career and Directing
Nikkhil Advani has worked in films for over 25 years. He started by helping directors like Saeed Mirza and Kundan Shah. He also worked with Dharma Productions, a big film company.
His first job as an assistant director was for Naya Nukkad (1994). He also helped write the movie Iss Raat Ki Subah Nahin (1996). Later, he assisted Karan Johar on popular films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham (2001). He even had a small acting part in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.
Directorial Debut: Kal Ho Naa Ho
Nikkhil Advani directed his first film, Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003). It was a romantic comedy-drama. The movie starred Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan, and Preity Zinta. It was very popular and made a lot of money. It was the most successful Indian film that year. The film won many awards, including two National Film Awards and eight Filmfare Awards.
Later Films and Stories
Advani then directed Salaam-e-Ishq (2007). This romantic drama featured many famous actors like Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra. The movie told six different love stories that were connected.
In 2009, he directed Chandni Chowk to China. This action-comedy starred Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone. It was about a vegetable cutter from Delhi who goes on an adventure in China. Warner Bros. helped produce this film, making it their first Hindi movie. It was one of the highest-earning films in India that year.
Nikkhil also produced Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai (2010), a science fiction romance film. He directed and wrote Patiala House (2011), starring Akshay Kumar.
Children's Film and Production Company
His children's film, Delhi Safari (2012), was India's first 3-D animated movie. It taught people about saving wildlife. This film is now being made into a series in Hollywood.
After this, Nikkhil Advani started Emmay Entertainment with Monisha Advani and Madhu Bhojwani. This company makes feature films and web series. Their first film was D-Day (2013), which received good reviews.
Emmay Entertainment has produced many successful films. These include Airlift (2016), a true story about saving many Indians from Kuwait during a war. This film earned over a billion rupees and won a National Award.
Advani also directed Katti Batti (2015), a romantic comedy, and Hero (2015), an action film. His recent film, Batla House (2019), was an action thriller. It was based on a real event and starred John Abraham. The film was very successful.
Under the Emmay banner, he has produced many other films. These include Lucknow Central (2017), Satyameva Jayate (2018), Marjaavaan (2019), and Bell Bottom (2021).
Other Projects
Web Series
In 2020, Nikkhil Advani produced and helped write his first web series, Hasmukh, for Netflix. It starred Vir Das and Ranvir Shorey.
He also created Mumbai Diaries 26/11 for Amazon Prime Video. This series is based on the real events of 26/11. It was released in 2021 and became very popular.
Short Films
Emmay Entertainment produced the short film Guddu Engineer (2016). This film promoted unity between India and Pakistan. It won awards at the Mumbai Shorts International Film Festival.
Advani also directed a short film called Apartment (2020) for Amazon Prime Video's Unpaused anthology. It was filmed during the pandemic.
Television Work
Nikkhil Advani produced a TV film for MTV called Shaadi Vaadi And All That. He also directed a TV series for Star Plus called P.O.W.- Bandi Yuddh Ke. This show was based on an Israeli TV series and was praised by many Bollywood stars.
Non-Film Work
Nikkhil Advani cares about nature and the environment. He works with the Sanctuary Nature Foundation to help with climate change and save tigers. He also helps restore old classic films with the Film Heritage Foundation. He is a big fan of soccer and promotes the Manchester City Football Club in Mumbai.
