Meet Noonbory and the Super Seven
The first episode of Noonbory and the Super Seven aired on August 15, 2009. The series officially began on September 19, 2009. The show's title even has a special "o" that looks like Noonbory's face! This shows he is the leader of the "Super Bory" team.
A friendly narrator helps teach important lessons in each episode. The show teaches about basic science, how to work together as a team, important social skills, and how to use your memory.
The Super Senses of Toobalooba
Each of the seven heroes has a special power based on a sense. Five of these are physical senses: sight, smell, taste, touch, and hearing. The other two are mental senses: common sense and nonsense. Noonbory, the main character, uses his common sense to solve problems.
The show takes place in a colorful world called Toobalooba. This world experiences all four seasons: winter, spring, summer, and autumn.
Who are the Borys and Gurys?
In Toobalooba, characters are either "Borys" or "Gurys." Good characters have names ending in -bory, like Noonbory. Bad characters have names ending in -gury, like Wangury. Instead of saying "everybody," characters in the show often say "everybory." Sometimes they even say "everybory and everygury!"
The bad guys, called Gurys, include Wangury and his pirate friends, Mungury and Taegury. There's also Rosygury, a selfish girl, and Coldygury, a grumpy snowman. Coldygury can throw snowballs when he gets angry!
Other characters you'll meet are the helpful Beebees, Bakerbory, Doctorbory, Farmerbory, Babysitterbory, and even singing flowers. The show's final episode aired in December 2009. In these episodes, the Borys and Gurys celebrate Christmas together.
Show Concepts: Good vs. Evil
Borys and Gurys: The Two Sides
- In Toobalooba, things are very clear: you are either a good "Bory" or a bad "Gury." There are no characters who are in between.
- If a character's name ends with "Bory," they are a good guy. If it ends with "Gury," they are a bad guy. It's a simple way to tell them apart!
- A "Bory" can never turn into a "Gury," no matter what they do. And a "Gury" can never become a "Bory," even if they do something good.
- Sometimes, Borys and Gurys can work together if they really need to.
- For example, Doctorbory helped Coldygury when he got sick with "Singeritis." This sickness spread to other characters before it was stopped.
- In another episode, the Ghostygurys even helped Noonbory and his friends stop Wangury's plans.
- Rosygury once tricked Kikibory by pretending to be a Bory in trouble. She used Kikibory to steal valuable items from the Bory village.
- However, Wangury, the main villain, usually doesn't ask Borys for help. He wants to take over Toobalooba! He even gets into fights with other Gurys if they are nice to the Borys.
- For instance, Wangury once stole Coldygury's sled. Coldygury got mad at the Borys first, throwing snowballs at them. But in the end, they found out Wangury was the one who took the sled.
- Mamby is the only "Bory" who can't speak. He whistles instead! Mamby can also change into almost anything, like a parachute. He can even stretch his body very far.
Super Abilities of the Super Seven
- Taste – Totobory has this amazing power. He can taste things without actually eating them! This helps him compare different foods.
- Hear – Jetybory's super ability lets her hear sounds from far away.
- Sight – Lunabory can see things much farther away than anyone else.
- Nonsense – Lukybory sometimes struggles to make sense of things. His younger sister, Kikibory, has a super loud scream.
- Common sense – Noonbory uses his common sense to figure out the smartest thing to do next. He is the only Bory in the show with an older family member.
- Smell – Pongdybory can smell things from a distance. Sometimes, using his power makes him sneeze really hard!
- Touch – Cozybory has the power to feel things using her sense of touch.
Main Characters of the Show
- Noonbory
- Noonbory is a 10-year-old white Bory and the main hero. He is friendly, smart, and a thoughtful leader. He often flies using a helicopter device and has a green shield that can stop things. Noonbory has two special phrases: "Let's make super sense of this!" when they need to think, and "Hurry scurry!" when it's time to act. He wears headgear that looks like Mamby and green fingerless gloves. Brent Hirose is his voice actor.
- Mamby
- Mamby is Noonbory's small, yellow and orange friend. He is the smallest Bory and can't speak, but he whistles. Mamby's arms can appear and disappear, and he can change into anything, like a parachute or a mattress.
- Cozybory
- Cozybory is a 9-year-old purple Bory. She loves painting and other creative activities. She wears a pink dress and has the power of touch. Jade Repeta voices her.
- Lunabory
- Lunabory is an 8-year-old yellow Bory and one of the Super 7. Her super sense is sight, allowing her to see very far. She uses this to find Gurys causing trouble. Her catchphrase is "Seeing is believing." She once used her power to cheat in a game but learned her lesson. Jacqui Fox is her voice actor.
- Jetybory
- Jetybory is a 9-year-old magenta Bory and a member of the Super 7. Her super sense is hearing, which means she can hear things from great distances. Margaux Miller provides her voice.
- Totobory
- Totobory is an 8-year-old brown Bory. His super sense is taste; he can taste things without eating them. He also has leaf-like petals on his head that act like tentacles, helping him reach far or high objects. Markian Tarasiuk voices him.
- Pongdybory
- Pongdybory is a 7-year-old blue Bory. He has the super sense of smell and can smell things from far away. When he uses this power, two pink snout-like markings on his face glow, and he sometimes sneezes loudly. Trevor Toffan is his voice actor.
- Lukybory
- Lukybory is the seventh, unofficial member of the Super 7. He is an 8-year-old yellow and orange Bory. He represents uncommon sense and sometimes makes situations worse by accident, but he can also surprisingly find solutions. Unlike Noonbory, he doesn't have a super sense. His little sister, Kikibory, has a super loud sound power. Reegan T.D. McCheyne voices Lukybory.
- Kikibory
- Kikibory is Lukybory's younger sister. She is a 6-year-old pink and magenta Bory. Her special ability is to make super sound waves from her mouth.
- Hanubi
- Hanubi is Noonbory's wise grandfather. He can do all sorts of magic, like making things disappear, teleporting, or even switching people's minds! Sometimes he gets a bit distracted. Once, he accidentally made six tiny Wangurys with a spell. Hanubi is very old and carries a magic staff. He looks like an older version of Noonbory with a mustache.
- Builderborys
- The Builderborys are a group of Borys who build things for others in the village. They are skilled in carpentry, making swings and toys. They always wear hard hats to stay safe while working. They often need help in some episodes.
- Doctorbory
- Doctorbory helps both Borys and Gurys when they are sick. Wangury even respects her! For illnesses like "Singeritis," Doctorbory always gives out a sweet treat.
- Coldygury
- Coldygury is a snowman who can only live in cold, wintery places. He talks about himself in the third person (like saying "Coldygury is cold"). He is often the first Gury to help a Bory. Wangury often targets him. When Coldygury gets angry, he throws snowballs. If he gets too close to warm places like Spring, he starts to melt away.
- Ghostygurys
- The Ghostygurys live in a haunted forest and just want peace and quiet. They are known for scaring Wangury, as well as Noonbory's friends.
- Wangury
- Wangury is the evil pirate leader who wants to take over Toobalooba and cause lots of trouble. Even other Gurys don't like him much! Wangury is the most chaotic villain in Noonbory's world, always causing mischief without common sense. He lives on a pirate ship but is never seen sailing it. He is the most common "silly villain" in the series.
- Rosygury
- Rosygury is a young female Gury who lives near the Bory Village. She loves her roses and attacks any Bory who threatens her rose garden with vines. Unlike Coldygury, Rosygury speaks in full sentences. She has even tricked Borys into stealing things for her.
- Dozegury
- Dozegury is an evil dragon Gury. He can turn invisible, change things into other things, and breathe smoke from his nose, like other dragons. It's not known if he breathes fire. He is often seen carrying his special umbrella.
- Evil Noonbory
- Evil Noonbory is a bad copy of Noonbory. He appeared only once in the episode "Double Trouble." Dozegury created him. Evil Noonbory tries to steal things in Toobalooba. Brent Hirose also voices him.
