Northwood is a lovely suburb located on the Lower North Shore of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It's about eight kilometres north-west of the main city area, known as the Sydney central business district. Northwood got its name from a special house called Northwood House. This house was designed by a famous architect named Edmund Blacket and built in 1878 by Mrs. Jane Davy. The name "Northwood" was chosen because it perfectly describes the area. It was a woodland area located in the north.
