Oberlangenegg is a small town, also called a municipality, located in Switzerland. It is part of the Bern area, specifically in the Thun district. This peaceful place is known for its beautiful natural surroundings.

History of Oberlangenegg

Oberlangenegg was first mentioned in old records in the year 1308. Back then, it was called Langonegga.

Scientists found an old Bronze Age dagger in an area called Lindenmoos. This shows that people lived here a very long time ago, even before written history. For many years, Oberlangenegg and Unterlangenegg were part of the same municipality. Oberlangenegg was mostly covered in forests and had fewer people.

The village of Schwarzenegg, which is on the border with Unterlangenegg, was a busier place. It was important for business and religion in the Zulg valley. In 1693, a large parish church was built there. Even today, Oberlangenegg is mostly a farming area. More than half of the jobs are in agriculture. In 2005, a factory that works with wood opened in the village, creating some jobs in making things.
