Otsego is a city in Wright County, Minnesota, United States. It's a suburb located northwest of Minneapolis–Saint Paul. This area is often called the "Twin Cities" metropolitan area.
In 2020, Otsego had a population of 19,966 people. By 2023, this number grew to 23,241. Otsego is the biggest city in Wright County. It is also the 47th largest city in all of Minnesota. Main roads like Minnesota State Highway 101 and Interstate 94 help people travel through the city.

History of Otsego
Otsego started as an organized township in 1858. A township is a type of local government area. It was named after Otsego County in New York.
Later, in 1990, the township officially became a city. This process is called incorporation.
Geography and Location
Otsego covers a total area of about 30.49 square miles (79.08 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a small part being water.
The city is special because it sits where two rivers meet. This meeting point is called a confluence. The two rivers are the Mississippi River and the Crow River.
Otsego is located about 30 miles (48 kilometers) northwest of Downtown Minneapolis. You can get there easily by taking Interstate 94.

Otsego is close to several other cities. These include Albertville, St. Michael, Rogers, Elk River, Dayton, and Monticello.

Otsego has a humid continental climate. This means it has cold, snowy winters and hot, humid summers. It's typical for this part of the Upper Midwest region.
The city gets all kinds of weather. This includes snow, sleet, ice, rain, thunderstorms, and fog. Summer temperatures can go above 100 °F (38 °C). Winter temperatures can drop below 0 °F (-18 °C).
Sometimes, Otsego can be a few degrees colder than downtown Minneapolis in winter. This is because of something called the urban heat island effect. This effect means cities tend to be warmer than surrounding rural areas.
