Partridge Creek is a small river, also called a creek, located in the beautiful province of Ontario, Canada. It flows through two different areas: Hastings and Lennox and Addington Counties. This creek is part of a larger water system that eventually leads to the Moira River and then into Lake Ontario, one of the Great Lakes!
The Journey of Partridge Creek
Partridge Creek starts its journey high up, at about 368 meters (or 1,207 feet) above sea level. It begins from an unnamed lake in a place called Tudor and Cashel, which is in Hastings County. This starting point is about 3 kilometers (1.9 miles) southwest of a small community named McCrae.
Right after it starts, the creek flows south under a road. It quickly reaches a lake called Upper Partridge Lake. From there, it continues flowing towards the southeast, passing through several other unnamed lakes.
Joining Other Waters
As Partridge Creek travels, another smaller stream, called Merrill Creek, joins it from the left side. This means Merrill Creek flows into Partridge Creek, adding to its water.
The creek then reaches Grimsthorpe Lake. This lake is interesting because it sits right on the border between Hastings County and Lennox and Addington County. At this point, the creek's elevation has dropped to about 319 meters (1,047 feet).
Heading Towards the End
Partridge Creek keeps flowing southeast until it reaches Partridge Lake, where its elevation is about 288 meters (945 feet). After that, it flows into Deerock Lake at an elevation of 259 meters (850 feet).
Finally, the creek flows east over something called Deerock Dam. Its journey ends when it meets the Skootamatta River. This meeting point is about 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) west of Northbrook and 4.5 kilometers (2.8 miles) north of Flinton. Both of these places are in the township of Addington Highlands.
The Skootamatta River then carries the water from Partridge Creek into the Moira River. The Moira River eventually flows into the Bay of Quinte on Lake Ontario at Belleville. So, the water from Partridge Creek travels a long way to reach one of Canada's famous Great Lakes!
