Port Hacking is a lovely bayside area, also known as a suburb, in southern Sydney, Australia. It sits on the northern side of the Port Hacking estuary, which is like a big river mouth. This suburb is about 26.7 kilometres south of the main city area of Sydney. It's part of the Sutherland Shire, which is its local government area.

The name of the Port Hacking suburb comes from the nearby estuary. Long ago, a man named Thomas Holt owned a lot of land in this area. His land stretched from Sutherland all the way to Cronulla.

In 1840, maps showed that Francis Mitchell owned a piece of land here. Later, in 1858, Mary and Andrew Webster bought land for 108 pounds and 15 shillings. They sold their land to Dominick Dolan in 1863.

Port Hacking is surrounded by other suburbs. To the north-west, you'll find Caringbah South. To the south-west is Lilli Pilli. And to the north-east, there's Dolans Bay.

Across the water, on the other side of the Port Hacking estuary, are the suburbs of Maianbar and Bundeena. Port Hacking is mostly a place where people live in homes.
