The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan is like the main manager of the country's government. They are the head of government for the Republic of Kazakhstan. This important role is the fourth highest position in the country. It comes after the president of Kazakhstan, the chairman of the Senate, and the chairman of the Majilis (which is like their parliament).
The Prime Minister leads the group of government ministers, called the cabinet. They also help and advise the President on how the Parliament of Kazakhstan should work every day.
Before Kazakhstan became an independent country in 1991, during the time it was part of the Soviet Union, this role was known as the chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic.
The person currently holding this job is Oljas Bektenov. He took over on February 6, 2024, after the previous government stepped down.

Understanding the Prime Minister's Role
The Prime Minister is a very important leader in Kazakhstan. They are in charge of making sure the government runs smoothly. This includes managing different parts of the government and making decisions that affect the country.
How the Prime Minister is Chosen
The President of Kazakhstan chooses the Prime Minister. However, this choice must be approved by the Majilis, which is the lower house of Kazakhstan's parliament. Once approved, the Prime Minister serves for five years. They can be chosen again for more terms.
