Rancocas Woods is a small community located in Mount Laurel Township. It's part of Burlington County in the state of New Jersey.
This community was built where an old amusement park used to be. The first houses in Rancocas Woods were constructed in the 1930s. When the community was new, it faced some challenges.
For example, there were no proper sewer systems installed. This was because the land didn't drain very well. As a result, the area would sometimes flood during heavy rainstorms. Also, the water pressure from the fire hydrants wasn't strong enough. The local volunteer fire department had to get water from the nearby Rancocas Creek to fight fires.
In 2018, the Mount Laurel Zoning Board made a decision about a part of the community. They voted to change some commercial land into residential land. This allowed a developer to build an apartment complex there. This new plan was expected to bring better sewers and fire hydrants to the area. However, it would also change the look of the shops on what people call "Main Street Mount Laurel." Many people in the community were not happy about this proposal.
