Story of Rapunzel's Adventure
This series continues the story of Princess Rapunzel after she escapes Mother Gothel and finds her real parents, King Frederic and Queen Arianna of Corona. Rapunzel finds it hard to get used to her new life, especially because her father is very protective.
One day, Rapunzel and her friend Cassandra sneak out of the castle. They discover some magical black rock spikes. These rocks mysteriously bring back Rapunzel's long, blonde, magical hair! Rapunzel, her boyfriend Eugene Fitzherbert, her chameleon Pascal, her horse Maximus, and a smart young alchemist named Varian try to solve the mystery of her hair's return. They also learn about the black rocks growing all over Corona. Rapunzel eventually discovers that the power of the Sundrop Flower lives inside her. The black rocks are guiding her to a place called the Dark Kingdom.
In the second season, Rapunzel and her friends travel to the Dark Kingdom. They are joined by Lance, Hook Foot, Shorty, and a mysterious sword fighter named Adira. The group learns that the black rocks are created by something called the Moonstone Opal. This Moonstone is the opposite of the Sundrop Flower. Rapunzel learns that the Sundrop and Moonstone are two parts of an ancient power that wants to be together again. An evil demon named Zhan Tiri wants this power too. Zhan Tiri returns as a spirit and tricks Cassandra into taking the Moonstone. Cassandra then turns against Rapunzel.
The third season shows Rapunzel dealing with Cassandra's betrayal. Rapunzel also has to become the acting queen of Corona.

Episodes
The Movie: Tangled: Before Ever After (2017)
This special movie kicked off the series. It was directed by Tom Caulfield and Stephen Sandoval, and written by Jase Ricci. It first aired on March 10, 2017.
Six months after the original Tangled movie, Rapunzel is getting used to being a princess in Corona. However, her father's guards keep her very protected, which makes her feel a bit trapped. One day, she and her lady-in-waiting, Cassandra, sneak out of the castle. They find some mysterious black rock spikes that magically bring back Rapunzel's long, blonde hair!
Even though Eugene, Pascal and Maximus also find out about her hair, Rapunzel decides to keep it a secret from her parents. She tries to hide it, especially with her coronation day coming up. But during the coronation, a rogue named Lady Caine and her followers cause trouble. They really dislike King Frederic. Rapunzel has no choice but to reveal her long hair to fight off the thugs with her friends.
Later, Rapunzel admits to her father that she snuck out. Because of this, he forbids her from leaving Corona's walls. Rapunzel feels stuck, but her mother encourages her to take things one day at a time. A little while later, a mysterious person finds the spot where the magical flower (that healed Rapunzel's mother) used to be. In its place are more of those strange black rock spikes.

Comic Book Idea That Didn't Happen
Two artists who worked on the series, Kaitlyn Ritter and Anna Lencioni, had an idea for a comic book spin-off. It would have been about Varian and called Varian and the Seven Kingdoms. In this comic, Varian would team up with new friends to discover seven different ways to change things using alchemy.
Disney liked the idea and encouraged them. However, they decided not to make it. They felt that a series about a character from Tangled without Rapunzel herself might be too risky. Disney suggested changing Varian into a completely new character, but the artists did not want to do that.
